Scoop side intakes
This is a Mosler Raptor of about 2012
Notice the position of the side intakes a lack of protruding scoop.
Check the vaious GTP "type" mid rear Vetts. No protruding scoops on any of them, all the way back to the mid 80s. One carried a turbo V6. The P&M mockups and cars - no protruning.
Then look at the various products of Chevy R & D. And the dream/show cars. No protruding scoops.
Prodruding scoops similar to those shown by various high quality forum members' rendurings are very high drag.
IMO, no protruding scoops on the C8.

In the renders, the coke bottle shape make the scoops appear to be protruding. But since the body is receding the actual scoop is inside the fender flares.

The beautiful renderings we have seen by forum members probably are way exaggerated.
i dont know squat about aerodynamics yet i believe you are correct although mclarens new 600 Lt does have a slight projection.

But if all you are concerned about is air flow and drag, no dip between the scoop and the continuing of the rear fender line to the wheel openong.

This is an interesting shape because the air intake is placed higher than where I believe it will be on the C8. Also the projection needs to be viewed with the door closed to get a good view. Still it is interesting.

The colors are visual means of representing the air pressures. You'd have to know the exact colors chosen by the individual representation, usually the brighter the color, the higher the air pressure at that point.
