That is one reason I bought a C7. I hedged my bets. If they do release a C8 convertible then I'll decide on weather I follow through or just use my deposit for a new 3500 diesel truck. Its all conjecture until they make an official announcement. Like most people, I hate waiting.
Your dealer doesn't know anything.

It's all but confirmed there is a convertible version C8 already driving around the streets. We've known this with a high degree of certainty for at least 6 months.

To my mind, it is not confirmed and I don't know anything with a high degree of certainty. JMHO All still to be actually revealed.

Good to see a dose of reality.
A Z06 starts at $82K with a manual trans. A DCT will add $3K so you are at $85K for the base ME, minimum. Most of the first year MEs will be over $100K, plus dealer mark up.

So your theory is that Corvette will simply abandon the market under $100K and roll the dice on an unproven design for which there is limited demand?

This is your idea of "clear head" thinking?

Great post. Looks like Austin. I'll be on the lookout for this one around town.

PCM,

I believe "most of the first year MEs" will sell for less than 100k. And that GM indeed hasn't decided to abandon the sub-100k market. I certainly expect to see ME variants over 100k and in fact plan to buy one of them.

I do enjoy the entertainment you've provided to date, though.

Really, I have not see any convertible versions of the C8, only targa models. They say the position of the powertrain makes it more difficult for a top mechanism to fold down so they haven't done a design for it yet. Ether way, I hope they do. An 800 horse ME convertible will be fun. It will go good with my CORSA turbo convertible - one ME and one RE car in the garage.

Then you need to look harder. There's clearly a hard top convertible one along with the targa coupe.

The one with the cloth/padded rear "window" is the convertible with buttresses. There are other spy pics that clearly show a vertical rear window peeking through the camo.

Thanks Tool Hoarder, I see some of those photos with the vertical back window now. I hope they do come out this summer. Then I just need to convince the wife that we need one

What does a C7 Z06 have to do with the price of a base C8? There has never been a case where the next generation's price was linked to the previous generation Z06.

So nothing based on facts or historical precedent, just some random post? Got it. Just more of the same from our resident clueless peanut gallery.

[QUOTE=keeks2915;1598745658]
I have watched with a wry smile from the distance. I have watched the “insiders”, “experts” and the “doubters”.

I can’t believe how talented the render artists are and the sheer hours they have invested.

Those who know who I am and my history know I can be trusted. The C8 will be a hit and will be the game changer GM wants it to be.

My cousin is in the Corvette Hall of Fame, Clare MacKichan, who was the Head of the Chevy Design Studio and designed the first 10 years of the Corvette 53-63, the Nomad and the Opel. He and Zora both pined for a ME.

I think the negativity is not warranted or needed. Corvette has never let us down since the first sketches Clare did before the motorama and what is about to be revealed.

I have (had) a collection of every generation of the Corvette and love them all and their quirks. When the Mid engine lands in my garage it will be there with its sisters.

When you start feeling negative thoughts about what is coming watch this attached video which sums up what it means to be a Corvette Guy or Girl. Like the guy in the video my gutless first love of a 75 vette had to go because of my young family.

I know this video has nothing to do with the C8 but it does have to do with what the brand means to so many of us and how we can be assured Chevy also takes it the same way.

If you are truly a Corvette Guy or Girl you will love this new baby.

This is the REASON I have been around here for 16 years! Making friends on this site, free tech advice and people living the corvette lifestyle. Owning a new Corvette, to you, is right up there with days you'll never forget. I hope that guy burns the rubber offer the rims in a couple of weeks. Probably the best thread I've seen. God bless that hard working man.
