Please, Chevrolet....NO Start/Stop Technology on C8
I've had two vehicles with this Start / Stop Technology and I hate it. C8 is a sports car....not a commuter car.

Yep... hate it. If this car has all that crap and hybrid front drive on the base model then I'm out. I hope they KISS.

Start/Stop technology is here to stay, at least until the electric revolution renders it unnecessary. The good news though is that many manufacturers are now allowing you to disable it permanently if you don't want to use it. Meaning, you can save your settings so that the system is turned off when you start the car next time. BMW has been doing this for a while. Porsche and Volvo are now doing it as well. Can't vouch for others. Some are even going back and updating software on their prior models to allow you to disable the system at your discretion.

I'm sure you would have to look long and hard to find someone to disagree. I had a JagFType that was a royal pain. However I have a Cayenne that can be left off and you'd never know it's there until the dog steps on the button.(he does it a lot!)

Once my warranty is up, I'm sending the ecu to Kleemann for tuning. While they have it they can reverse the operation of the start/stop. It will then be off by default and i'll be able to turn it on with the push of the button. The dealer has the ability to reverse it as well, but won't do it.

What engineer in their right mind thinks it's a good thing to turn the car off(pause) or what ever they call it at a stop light...Then when you push the gas the vehicle lurches forward. Our Acura has it and we hate it and again, have to turn it off everytime you get in the thing.

No engineer thinks its good...they do it as a compromise to meet regs and fleet standards. No engineer wants to put in CAGS or any other obtrusive, fuel saving measure...they have to in order to reach other benchmarks of performance, as a tradeoff.

I would gladly pay extra out of my pocket (to cover any CAFE fees/fines on the model), to avoid having this ridiculous "feature".

Burning Brakes
While I too hate any form of stop/start I have seen to date, in my experience, the better versions often apply some smarts that limit the stop/start function when the tank is full, getting progressively more aggressive as the tank dips below 50% or lower.

As soon as I take my foot off the brake peddle the car is running again and I'm off, there is no lurch and no way could I release the brake and press the gas fast enough to beat the startup The only time pressing the gas will start the car is if I'm using the HOLD feature, at any stop you give the brake a quick stab to activate HOLD and car will hold the brake application until the gas is pressed. Again, almost undetectable start/lag from a dead stop with engine off to forward momentum.
It's still annoying having start/stop and wish the car didn't have it because of what I perceive as additional wear. For the most part it's not very detectible on my Mercedes.

On the Mercedes, it is on/off based on the brake peddle. Not sure about other cars but this is the only system I am aware of.

My Volvo XC90 has it, and I hated it, too . . . . at first. Now I'm used to it and it doesn't bother me at all any more.

What year is your XC90? The system can be shut off in all 2019 XC90s. 2018s can be shut off as well but you must go to the dealership for a software update.

For me, it's a simple matter.
If the C8 has start/stop technology I'm buying my ME car from another manufacturer that doesn't have it, even it it means buying an older model.

Its going to have it. Its potential purchasers will need to get over it. GM will most likely toss in a disable button, simple as hitting it each time you drive it.
These "dreaded" features are what allows cars like this to be built in the first place. Get used to them or buy old cars.

The starters they put on these cars have way stronger duty cycles vs. traditional starter motors. Plus, all the oil in your engine won't drain back fast enough to cause any added wear/tear.
