I think the C8 has been under our nose the whole time
Let me be the first to say that this thread belongs on the History Channel’s Ancient Aliens show, but something is kinda bugging me. If you are a mega car manufacturer with a large budget. How much money are you willing to budget for secrecy on a radical design of your flagship?Would they even break a sweat to create a small dummy corporation? When Star Wars came out in the 70’s. It was huge. Lucas had to figure out something for Empire Strikes Back so the movie info wasn’t leaked too soon. That’s why it was called Blue Harvest in the beginning, and this was way before social media and digital cameras. Even Disney had to create dummy corporations to buy up land for Disney World because if word got out. The price of land would increase dramatically. So here are the “What if’s”.What if the concept of the C8 is actually the Aria FXE. I know this has been discussed before, but has anyone really done a deep dive on this theory? Let me explain, but before I do. Yes the world is round, and yes we landed on the moon. Aria in the dictionary means an elaborate song. What if this is a joke to say that this is a Dummy company and the name is tongue in cheek for an elaborate ruse? Are some of the members of Aria are from GM? What if GM is making a lot of noise over there while they are making the real C8 over here (I’m hand gesturing but you can’t see it).
Now am I saying the Aria is the C8? Yes and no. Here’s why. Again this is a concept. Has anyone really seen the aria on the road or track? I’ve only seen static displays.Look at the front of the Aria car. Doesn’t look anything like the spy shots of the C8, but it does have Corvette lineage (not great lineage but this is more fun coming from GM). Do you remember Corvette Summer? Some are trying to forget, but do you remember the awful front headlight design? If a designer was to make a 2019 version of that front end, wouldn’t it look like the Aria? Also today’s car designers with the knowledge of aerodynamics. Would they really design headlights like that on a 200+ MPH hyper car? Really? This is fun at our expense.
Look at the tail lights. Kind of look like squashed C7 brake lights right?
There’s been talk of the C8 having a rear split window like the 1963 C2 Stingray coupe. Again the Aria has these features.
The interior of the Aria looks completely concept to me, however it does have similarities of the spy photos we have seen of the C8 interior.
Also the Aria FXE has a V8 with front electrical motors. Not too different of the C8 rumors.LOL this is a little thin, but what if FXE means Front Engine Exit. Now you could say that the Aria is not a Targa top and the body lines don’t match. Well like I said….It’s a concept car. Still there are too many similarities.I’m sure there’s more about this I’m not seeing and people on this forum will sigh and moan that this is utter B.S. but what if? What if we are all focusing on a hunk of junk and the real C8 was right under our nose.Let the flaming begin….

I definitely give you points for creativity. I also see the resemblance, but I think it is just coincidental.

Interesting idea.

i am leaning toward it being more than a coincidence mostly because of the way the scoop spills over into the door.. that is so distinctive and similar, also the rear part of the windows are very similar. The front is very different, but it peaks in a similar way, and generally the whole body shape is similar. But mainly it is that door handle/scoop treatment.. if it were not for that I would not be onboard, that is a giant clue right there. And the fact that GM was cozy with these designers. “We’re great friends with the folks at GM, and they know that we are doing this”

^^^ Good point! I didn't know if any other car had that, but whoop there it is.

Yes its very possible this car was developed as an early design study for the C8. Its also possible GM used it as a cloaked focus group design to get opinions on the design without letting the cat out of the bag as to what it really was. That dark colored rear shot looks more like a Corvette than what I have seen in the C8 spy photos. Its very possible they set up a dummy LLC to freely show the concept without giving away what it really was to be. If you look long and hard at the car it sure does have MANY GM styling cues to it.

The Aria has been discussed a lot and it's apparent a lot of similarities in every part of the car. What the C8 will be is a wholly "Corvette" look based off this design concept.
Even the hood lines and front and rear fenders, side scoops, etc are all very similar to the C8.
Things we know will be significantly different are the front and rear fascias, headlights and taillights. A lot of everything else comes significantly similar to what we see on this Aria, including the big mouth up front, the hood lines that split down the middle as well as spread wide towards the pillars, front fender and upper door lines, rear fenders, side scoops, etc are all very similar to the C8.

Burning Brakes
Aria is a design, engineering, and manufacturing company. They’ve done concept and design work for big names like GM, Tesla, and Kia, and they designed things like the infamous redesigned Warthog from Halo 4 and many cars from the Transformers series. They manufacture things, big things, like the carbon fiber bodies for Singer Porsches.
The name is an abbreviation of the Fast Eddy name used on their concept car shown below. The names allude to the former GM VP of Design, Ed Taylor, whose son Charles is a co-founder of Aria. The Fast Eddy itself was a Concept car for the FXE. As for the FXE, it uses an LT4 crate engine with electric motors up front. It also uses a 7-Speed DCT, Much like the C8.

C8.R
Aria
This just seems too close to not talk about. Remember, Both models may be concealing details. Aria may be concealing front and back end. C8.R might be partially concealing side scoops.
