Default Classic vs disposable logos

I am proud of the 1953 Corvette badge and what it represents. I'm sorry the GM marketing people feel the continual need to 'refresh' the image. Let the new car speak for itself and wear its heritage proudly!
Is the Ferrari logo "dated?" Is the Chevy bowtie "dated?" Is the Coca Cola logo "dated?" Is the Ford logo "dated?" The Shelby logo? The Harley Davidson logo?

The only reason the Vette logos seem dated is because GM has made them disposable. No reason for it. And it certainly doesn't help the Corvette brand.

This will be an awkward Jake look for sure. My thoughts are C7 logo is > C8 logo.

Apples and oranges. Corvette is a model, Ferrari is a manufacturer. The Chevy logo is virtually unchanged since 1913.

As a designer, never been a big fan of the bow tie... recognizable for sure... now. But not attractive.

Glad Corvette minimizes it and uses the crossed flags.

Very strange it doesn’t say Zora anywhere...

Remember that time Zerv said the logo looked almost indential to this? (Script and all)

Fenwick, I created that logo at the request of a CF poster that it should be circular to pay homage to the original Corvette Logo shown in an above post. I subsequently modified it to this which I liked better. As to the revealed logo, it looks good.

That font is hideous.

Basically yes. The more intriguing question is "why did they do something so seemingly simple?"

Notice that squeezing the C7 logo achieved two things. 1) it brought the flags together... perhaps to illustrate more "connectedness" between the C8R racing team and the C8 production team, and 2) it changed the exterior and interior angles; made them a bit more "vertical". Perhaps those angles align better with lines on the C8's frunk and/fenders.

Obviously this is all conjecture, but it's fun to speculate.

Hideous? IMO No. The best choice? Probably not. I used a font called ‘Tangerine’ which is at least stylized but no where near Mr Duntov’s signature. GM used ‘Times New Roman’ but added a disclaimer in the trademark application and is too bland. Using his actual signature of ‘Zora’ would be perfect, just not in my software as an option for use. IMO the ME should have his name proudly posted on the exterior in some fashion either in the Logo or as a stand alone.

I think the prior poster might have been a bit dramatic. As is want to happen on the internet. The font doesn't really fit a modern car though. It looks a bit 1950s or 1960s. If the new C8 has a few retro elements, the font may fit right in. Based on what we know at present though, the styles would not match. The signature would work great though.

Actually the Ferrari logo has undergone at least 5 official redesigns according to the company.

The new, exciting up swept Corvette cross-flags logo emblem was one reason why I was attracted to check out the new and improved Corvette C7 in 2013.

... The tired ***, cross-flags logo emblems of the past decades (esp. C2) were ancient looking and needed to be kicked to the curb.

...I LOVE the new C8 logo emblem with even greater up sweep!!

Maybe it's time for GM to settle on one Corvette logo and carry it into new generations. Personally, I like the C7 logo better.

First thing that came to mind when I saw it was the Houston Texans logo. I think this C8 totally missed the mark like the initial LA Charger logo. IMO the C7 logo has been the best. One thing I hope they don't do is attach it with guide posts on the back requiring holes in the fascia. The one thing I really dislike about my GS is the cross flags emblem right in front of the scoop on the front fascia - looks stupid.

Apparently you are unaware that those logos have been redesigned multiple times.

'Redesign' is a big word. The 1905 Coca Cola logo is very similar to the 2007 one. Same with Ford 1912 to 2003. You can redo everything about the font, the color, even the car (looking at you Porsche) and still have it be 90% exactly the same.

Love the new logo. Everything changes with time and this is a good one along with the upgrade to ME format.
