I've now seen reviews of the 2020 HD pickups from Chevrolet, GMC, Ford and RAM. I've seen reviews of the 2020 Porsche 911. I've seen reviews of the 2020 Mustang Shelby GT500. I've seen reviews of the new rear drive 2020 Lincoln Aviator and the sister 2020 Ford Explorer (which Ford even has on their website). I've seen reviews of the BMW Z4. I've also seen reviews of its twin, the 2020 Toyota Supra. Most of these vehicles are in super competitive markets, and none of these manufacturers worried about 2019s still on the lots. Then I look at the 2020 Corvette C8. Nothing. As far as GM is concerned, it doesn't even exist. Why is this so secretive? The Corvette owns the $55K sports car market, unless Porsche is on the verge of putting a V8 in the Cayman. It's a bit puzzling.

Not yet ready for prime time. Once development is completed it will be announced. Who knows, may even be a 2021 model.

As far back as I can remember (a preteen waiting on info on the 4th gen) Chevrolet has always been this peculiar with the Corvette.

How do you know GM is even going to make the ME C8? It's all assumption at this point.

Based on the OP's premise, I suppose some could conclude it won't be a 2020 model. I haven't seen hype for any 2021 models yet.

Moving to a mid engine design is a big move for GM & the Corvette team. The engineering team will have some hurdles to overcome during the development and once they are resolved, we will see the new Corvette. This is a drastic departure compared to when they developed the C5,C6 to C7. I am impatiently waiting and hope once completed GM makes a documentary about the process. I sold my Audi R8 way to soon thinking that around this time I would be ordering my new ME, I been on a list since 1/2015.

No secrecy. You only get one chance to make a good first impression.Take your best shot.
When you look at the lead times needed for articles in magazines 2 -3 months absolute minimum.
AND you look at the typical magazine schedule.ie:
first month pictures and specs almost all from manufacturer.
second month ride and drive, limited or no testing, more specs.
third month full on thrashing and test results.
This means that if GM is going to announce the C8 in 3 months the magazines have the C8 now.
If they have it now it has to be fully sorted out. No issues or comments about electrical gremlins.
That's probably why a 6 month delay. You need at least 3 months to fix and test the electrical fix and 3 months for the magazines to have an issue free car.
Reset to 0 if anymore issues.

Using the Supra isn't going to help your argument much here...it spent the last 5+ years hiding in plain sight and driving folks nuts, just as the C8 is doing now. Relatively speaking, the cloaked C8's are newbies compared to the long, drawn-out, song and dance of the BMW Supra. It feels like old news in need of a refresh, and it's still not even out for sale yet.

ME is only big for one company, GM, most if not all of the other sports car manufacturers have already gone to ME, that's like GM keeping things a secret on a new car with DOHC or AWD.

This is right. The ONLY thing we know for certain, is that someone is driving mules of what appears to be a mid engine car. We can deduce from these images that it is a GM vehicle, as the caravan with them are GM vehicles. We can deduce that it may be a Corvette because the shape that we see has the basic heritage styling, and a few shots of people around the car wearing shirts with a Corvette logo on it. Other than this, all we have are few people stating that they are close enough to insiders that are 'spilling the beans' to them, which as far as I'm concerned can be taken with a grain of salt. At this point, GM could still be 'playing around with the idea'.

When GM decides A: That they are actually going to do this, and B: Have a production ready product and plan to show, then, and only then, will they shout the "Great News" from every hilltop and be anxious to tell us all every little thing about it.

I could care less about a ME but if the C8 comes out better and to the same degree as the C7 did over the C6 without having a ME, fine. The power plant in the front and the transaxle in the rear balance the car out excellently, how much better will the C8 if it’s an ME do it better? Or will the ME in the C8 be just a marketing gigsmo? Just to satisfy the endless calls of Corvette owners, maybe? Look at how the C4 blew away every ME in the world when it came out. I’m not going to hold my breath because soon enough we will see and then we will see what it can really do. For the time being and into the future, I’m having a great time behind the wheel of my C7 Stingray, which thrills me to no ends. All this hype is going to do nothing to get the C8 out sooner but could make the car more expensive, because of the hype and GM’s marketing scam.

Remember that GM is trying to produce a semi affordable mass produced assembly-line mid engine sports car. That is not an easy task, name one manufacture other than Porsche making more than 20k ME units a year. Most ME are hand assembled with longer assembly cycles per segment. During development if GM has a technical issue that adds an extra 2k to the selling price this could be a big problem compared to say Ferrari, Lamborghini and other high end manufacturers that are not as price sensitive. I am not a GM loyalists and agree they have flaws but I do understand the engineering challenges a car company has switching to a mid engine car after decades of building an FE. I wish GM was more transparent but I understand they still have FE cars they need to push out the door.

It could be worse look at the 7 year development flop of the NSX, they are still having a hard time selling cars. I hope to see a C8 reveal sooner than later.
