Since they have a three to four month lead time I would think that GM has had to supply them all with the details already. That may be the way that interior pic was leaked. GM is going to want those mags on the racks ASAP once the car is announced.

The 2015 Mustang was released at the end of the NFS movie. Maybe it was the C7 that was the HW car, but I dont remember that being the case

The answer to this thread is “no.” As to why not, because there is still a while to go before the vehicle is revealed (longer than even monthly print media needs to gear up and create their magazines, for GM acutely knows that even embargoed material has publicly appeared before the embargo was supposed to be over).

All the magazines have website where they release the latest 'stuff' almost instantly. I don't think the printed hard copy versions carry the same level of importance they once did.
Bottom line.... I don't think the lead time is anywhere as long as it was in the past.

I would say "No" as well. Because if they were prepared to do an article, I would almost suspect more leaks while everyone is standing around waiting for something.

No. The magazines will want their own photos anyhow, cant imagine fifteen articles with the same stock pics.
Dealer material already shot and printed? Much more plausible, if they've got the options and packages and such finalized.

No, The mags would not be paying for spy photos if they had the real thing. As for print shops having pics to work from, again No, they don't. What probably is in place is reserved time at a trusted print shop to prepare literature just prior to the reveal. There may be several dates reserved to give GM flexibility. I'm confident others here have seen this in their respective industry as I have just prior to a new product launch.

The interior shot was an unfinished mule. They won't have tan console and doors with black seats like that.

Yes and no. Obviously auto makers have relationships with media outlets. Obviously they will provide proprietary information to media outlets, BUT what, where, when and with who is at their discretion. Multiple reasons for leaks, hyping product/brand is the most common, but also watering down rumors and squealers.

No. Think they will get them last minute at a ready to go to press time as part of a "first look". The presses are all computer driven now. They can use the pictures, cutaway drawings & mostly reworked GM public relations handouts for the copy. First drives then full road tests & comparison testing can fill the next few editions. If they can get the car by summer it can make the C&D Lightning Laps October issue.
Should the car be as revolutionary as I hope its will get a lot of play over a number of consecutive issues.

That's called "embargoing." And GM wouldn't trust any of the mags at this stage. Print is no longer the primary channel for dissemination anyway. All the good stuff will come online first. Even brochures are a secondary consideration.

I think the auto enthusiast media has seen the c8 or at least some prototypes.
i dont know or believe the press media material has gone out yet.....as many have said the c8 launch is not around the corner...
we will be lucky to see the offical launch in the first half of the year with c8 s hitting the showrooms by fall.
print media is as menti9ned is no longer the primary manner to disseminate information so the information can be held until a much later date.
im still smiling remembering back as a kid in the sixties waiting for the magazines to cover auto shows with something in the area of a 3 month time lag and that was the only way we really could see what was shown new at the auto show...other than being able to go ourselves which unless they were the local show...it wasnt happening for most of us.
ive been going to the NY autoshows since the mid 1960s when they were at the coliseum. Those are excellent father son experiences 50 years later I still have fond memories of.
