Default Another C8 Reveal Prediction, RE: Corvette Magazine

I just received the April edition of Corvette Magazine. They have a prediction on the C8 reveal that I've not seen before so I thought I would share. They expected the reveal to occur at the Detroit auto show. When that did not happen, they attempted to find out why and when. They are now predicting a standalone event this summer, not associated with any other event.
Here's the text: "...word leaked in December that a serious, last minute electrical problem pushed back the intro date until early or mid-summer. Rather than launching the C8 at one of the premier auto shows, as it has with new Corvette models of the recent past, rumor has it that Chevy will stage its own, separate media event specifically for that purpose." Corvette Magazine, Page 6, April 2019
I'm posting this only because I haven't seen the stand alone concept presented before.
As for me, I'll be watching the NYC auto show in April. If there is no reveal there, then maybe this prediction has merit.
OK have at it.

The standalone launch event has been mentioned here, but it's been drowned out under all the other noise.

it makes as much sense as anything else at this point.

However it happens, I think we would all agree THIS LAUNCH must be “Bigger than life”, “Monumental”, “Awe-Inspiring” for the both the ‘Corvette Faithful’ and the ‘average joe/jil’.

GM marketing must make THIS LAUNCH Legendary and I’d suggest well beyond the historical precedents and speculative predictions shared here, on the home front.

ONE CHANCE, one target 🎯 ‘BullsEye’!

Sure hope GM gets it right.

I would think ideally, they would want to launch it at one of the three major US auto shows: Detroit, LA or NY. Detroit has come and gone, so that is not an option. If it is not in NY in April and they want to show the car before LA in November, a stand alone event is the most realistic option.
For a whole host of reasons, I bet Tadge & Co. are still working flat out to try and make New York on April 19th, so they can also do a huge presentation at the BASH just 6 days later (April 25).

I think they are planning a launch at Area 51 during the Ides of April ... it will be so secret, nobody will know for 2 years, and GM will get 24 months of free publicity on Blogs and Car Forums.

The Caravan is a great place to reveal the car. It gets more people to go, creates a centerpiece for the show, and all of them love Corvette. Invite a few press and boom, you've got a nice reveal.

I don't know. I never paid much attention to the month on the cover. I thought it was a little strange too.

GM could get a little creative and have one hell of a tease if they wanted. Take a high profile event like the Super Bowl or better yet Daytona 500 and do a Chevy truck commercial where as the truck is driving through a neighborhood with an ever so quick glimpse of the C8 parked on a side street, nothing too revealing just enough to cause a stir. Or as they get closer to the reveal date, something like the newest Ford commercial, Eastbound and Down. Take a bunch of Chevy trucks put them on a highway surrounding the new C8 as they are driving down an interstate and show just a few shots from from different angles, that would make many people crazy I would think.

Hopefully GM is employing an advertising agency that is creative enough to give us that type of memorable reveal. Of course, they have to be ready because "teases" have a short shelf life, and tend to generate more, "where is it's."

I like both of these---one for creativity, and one for hope! I have no idea where, when or why it will be revealed at wherever it happens. I just hope it really is "the right place." Interpretation: the BEST place to do it. That's all.

Neat idea as you say, to cause a stir.

And part of that stir should include ‘peppering’ in some staggered historical glimpses to an American Automotive Legacy that tugs at the viewers’ heart strings inspired by familial and great aspirational ownership pride (the product of proud American’s and engineering GIANTS) and the emotional joy (all kinds of great historical examples including tremendous Racing Team success and the C1, C2 & C3 NASA Astronaut ownership pride) of owning America’s Sports Car.

Should be very entertaining and memorable.

Y’all know good and well GM ain’t about that marketing life. I must admit though the C7 mini videos were nice.
