C8 impact on C7 sales

C8 impact on C7 sales
Seven months worth of Chevy Corvettes are sitting unsold on dealer lots.
That's about 9,000 unsold models.
https://www.autoblog.com/2019/02/20/...months-supply/
...There are a lot of reasons that dealers keep ordering a car that's sales are slowing. Allocation is one. If a dealer doesn't order enough C7s, it's likely to get fewer C8s. GM could also be padding numbers so there are cars available while the plant is retooled for the C8. Poking around the internet might reveal some pretty good deals.
I wonder how many people are just waiting to see what the C8 looks like.

Great advice for the bargain minded consumer!!! Why, I walked right into the Hyundai dealer and demanded to buy a C8 Corvette. I got a GREAT deal... not only a night of lodging at no cost to me, but also a blood test FOR FREE!!

I think winter is part of the increase in inventory as well. I bought my C5, C6 and C7 in the October - February time frame because it is typically a buyers market. Most people aren't thinking about buying a two seat sports car over the winter. Especially the C7s that come with summer only tires.

Some say it is always price.
Vette are getting expensive.
Coupe Base LT1 = $55K.
Nicely optioned:
Vert LT2 = $90
ZO6 LT3 = $110.
ZR1 = $150K
I find some options necessary, like a transparent top, auto trans & stereo upgrade (about $4K additional cost)
So, my comment again is the unsold C7 inventory is related to price, not buyers awaiting a C8.
0% 5 yr financing, 20% off sale, GM "We pay your 9.75% sales tax in Calif", Bumper to bumper warranty extension - maybe that will move inventory?

On the bright side, used C7's will be VERY cheap in the not-too-distant future and anyone who buys a C7 now won't see too much depreciation.

Let's see.
1. It's winter and we're talking about Corvettes
2. There are more used C7s on the market than ever. Add to that, with the possible exception of the C5, no other generation of Corvettes has had so few changes year to year.
3. GM is not making an extra effort with incentives.
4. There's a new model Corvette on the horizon.
And we're surprised there's a load of new C7s on dealer's lots?

Stop, you're both making sense here. As far as a non existent model slowing down the sales numbers of an existing model, well, that sounds like twilight zone stuff to me.

You mean to tell me an all new Corvette is coming out, a mid-engine one at that, and sales of the current generation in it's 6th production year are getting soft? No way!
