FWIW - Small tidbit in new MT

4.6 L with a FPC? Displacement is too high so it would vibrate too much. A hot v is also bogus, as confirmed by CAD drawings. Side mount turbos are only a packaging issue in front engine vehicles. In a ME sports car it’s better to keep the CG lower with side mounted turbos.

It's not practical enlarging the Cadillac Hot V engine to 4.6L, so the article is fake news.

Why would you want a hot-v set up in a mid engine car? With ME you have the full width of the car to work with so no problem in putting turbos outboard of the engine. Hot-v is designed for cramped spaces.

Well, Well, Well
The FE lives on with its manual trans and 500 hp small block at under $50k.
The ME moves up the price range to compete directly with everything Porsche sells.
Makes sense and always did.

Just bear in mind that Motor Trend is probably using Corvette Forum as its source. So there's a feedback loop going on here.
In other words: don't put too much weight in their rumors. They're about as "inside" as... uh... a kid sitting on the outside of the fence at Milford.

Let’s not forget the cross flag logo of this FE...
half C7logo and half new C8 logo.

GM is not about to roll the dice solely on an unproven design that has never before been part of Corvette for reasons that should be obvious.
Mary Barra is not a fool.

Here's Motor Trend's "render" of the C7 in September 2012 (4 months before it was shown at Detroit!!!!)
After this...I took EVERYTHING MT says with a quarry size grain of salt....especially when Jalopnik got it mostly right almost a YEAR earlier.

motor trend....not a good source. not even as a magazine. just keep a list of the points in that one paragraph and see how "close" they got. kind of a run-on paragraph, too.

Make the C7 into the 718? The only problem with that is - Porsche doesn't sell many 718s. Recast the C7 into an sport SUV, like the Urus, Cayenne, etc. That's the hot sales segment, and perfect for a front engine setup. GM could do very well in that segment, very well. As either a Caddy or a "Corvette SUV".
