2020 C8 of the Year Finalist - Unmodified

Default

As a car enthusiast, I'm interested in what they are doing

As a potential buyer, I'm more and more bored everyday. It's like I've seen this car for 5 years already and I've never seen it. When I do, it's going to be a "oh, so that's it. Hmmm..'

These "leaks" are from GM. Its part of their marketing plan to gain interest. But it's starting to backfire.

i can’t buy time so may go another direction if I can’t order by end of the year.

Another thing to consider is there may have been a paradigm-shift for the typical Corvette buyer.
In the past, budget constraints played a part in the buying decision for most.
With the economy and the MARKET having done so well the last 10 years, The Faithfull may have more $$$ than ever before and are now considering moving upscale in their choice of a Sportscar.

This. I’m inches away from just getting a Lambo or 458.

I agree with you with the possible exception of the word backfire. I would say it is starting to get old.

The C7 began its run as a 2014. The 2019 is the 6th model year of the C7. The C6 run was 9 years. How is the C8 late or way behind schedule at this point. Chill.

That I "never sell for more than sticker: ain't cutting it. That adding $$$ to the sticker ain't either. Cars aren't candy bars where they are $1.15 NO negotiating. There will plenty of room for a dealer to make money, do a fair deal, increase their allotment and make a new customer or keep an old one and make them happy without GOUGHING.

Correct and guess what? They love it.I have actually heard Porsche guys brag about how much they ":just spent" on their car at the dealership when they have had it worked on. Amazing.

Although I understand the frustration for many, from everything I've read, seen and heard, the C8 will be "revolutionary" and "wow", all rolled into one. For me, I'm just enjoying the ride (journey)---a 60+ year journey to Corvette history! I'm confident all the waiting will be worth it.

Porsche service is painful to say the least. Those ****** will unload your wallet and ask for more. I still hate to admit it but I know this from personal experience. Too brag about being bent over is about as stupid as it gets. Its easier to strap one of those ugly Rolex bricks around your wrist if you need to validate yourself by showing the world how you enjoy getting ripped off.

GM said during the early days of the C7 their vehicle gens will become shorter (like their competitors) in the future.

I'm beginning to think there may be another reason for this: a lack of confidence.
What I mean is GM is still not sure Vette fans will accept a ME with a Corvette badge on it.
Traditionalists are a large part of Vettedom.

Agreed..."see how much $$$ I have? I can afford to burn it whenever I want."

You can bet that unless the dealer is a big/high volume seller, there will be mark-ups. Likely those that will not have a mark-up will be selling at MSRP. Just sayin',

I'm certainly losing interest in the C8 just to much risk on a first year car, who the hell want's a garage queen. I also wish we had some info on any new C7.
If the engineer's struggle with new cars how is Joe Average dealer mechanic going to cope? yea old school I'm older then dirt.

Most of us are enjoying a great sports car while we read these forums for c8 update...

im enjoying life although coming to read the forum and seeing the same spy shots of production mules driving around with white paint and squiggly black lines is kind of boring.

im not bored of the c8.........but rather bored of the same videos and spy photos...

id suggest thats what most are bored with

Same here. I always liked the performance of the period Vette but the interior was terrible. The C7 is when I was sold and bought my first Corvette, a 2017 Grand Sport.

The difference is the media has changed and the mid-engine Corvette is of such interest that we have seen every scrap of info available from the first Holden Ute mule sighting in January 2015. So we've had 4 years of "The C8 Mid Engine is Coming".

That said.... what should GM do. How can they combat or manage social media? You can't control the narrative when the product isn't ready. I'm curious if there are any marketing professionals on here? Harlan seems to know his stuff and the roll-out of the C7 was done very well. I was foaming at the mouth and expected Porsche quality for Corvette prices. They did such a good job selling attention to detail and quality that my C7 was disappointing in it's fit/finish, mine was far worse than any C5 I owned.

Greed? You mean wanting to stay afloat in a rapidly changing market? Yes... lets keep building cars nobody wants. China is going to steamroll us by sheer population consumer buying power if we don't adapt.
Not likely. Isn't China's GDP, even with 3 times our population, still only about 1/5th of the USA's?
