Let's make it a C8 2LT and a few options.
So now I can choose a Camaro for $75,000.00 or the latest ME Corvette that has been talked about for decades for $75,000.00
Mustang GT350R, $75,000.00+
Mustang GT500, $100,000.00+
Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye, $90,000,00+
Lexus LC, $100,000.00+
Porsche Boxster (4 cyl POS), $90,000.00+
Porsche 911S, $140,000.00+
Jaguar F-Type, $125,000.00+
Nissan GT-R, $150,000.00+
Audi R8, $180,000.00+
Acura NSX, $200,000.00+
2019 C7 Z06, $100,000.00+
2019 C7 ZR1, $150,000.00+
Looks like a Ferrari, Mid Engine (500+ HP), DCT, 0-60MPH under 3.5 seconds, 11's in the 1320 and Hottest car in years.
2020 Corvette C8 base price = $60,000.00

In addition to what @Quinten33 said,
Base Camaro V8 455HP: $37,500
Base Mustang GT 460HP: $35,300
Base Challenger V8 375HP: $34,300 (or $39,900 to bump up to the 485HP)
When you're talking about a base engine not much more powerful than those, and to be honest an interior that doesn't really wow above and beyond those, are you really going to tell me that the base price is easily in the triple price range? The Corvette aligns market-wise far more with those than limited production, high end Euro/JDM luxury cars, as much as some here think that ME means it must be pricey and elaborate.

Now, if I pull $70K out of a 401K (which I CAN), I'm getting whacked for about $20++K on taxes (which I SHOULD not).
However, If I finance $70K at my CU for 2.25% interest, I pay NO tax, and continue to make 4% (tax deferred) on the money that's still earning interest, and not sitting dead in my garage. (about, oh 1.5% or so positive ROR)
I don't know who your High School math teacher was, but that person SHOULD probably just be the JV basketball coach, and CAN not teach.

Totally off topic, but CAN, and SHOULD are two different issues.

I agree.....but be prepared for your response. I just got “educated” by Punky that he was able to retire early as as a result of being a surgeon and having an even more successful wife as an engineer. He went on to state he has two houses in Europe and lives in a mansion and has the means to buy whatever he wishes. I just hope his wife was able to engineer in wider door jams to get his head through them. LoL.
So, it was lose $35M on the boat, or $650M in the divorce... my accountant explained it to me.
Life is very simple when you do the math.

In the Real world, not some fucked up World where someone actually Buys a Stripped, Base Stingray, I'll be happy as a Pig in ***** if I can get a C8, 500+HP, Mid Engine, 2LT with a few added options with Tax included for $99,999.99.

That's funny. The 1LT' "stripped" C6 that I bought out of dealer stock was a great car that served my performance car needs to a "T". Not everyone needs baby soft leather, cargo covers, boom box ghetto radio and all the other crap that returns you 5 cents on a dollar when you sell.

I think you’ll be very satisfied with the price of your C8. I think that you will be able to get a Stingray 3LT for less than $90,000 and a fully optioned one(with Z51) for less than the base price of the 992 911 Carrera(which isn’t out yet).

I don't understand how Don Sherman's statement of the C8 will be a little more expensive than the current car and will be priced between $60k-$70k, gets us to a $60 starting MSRP.
All the drawings seem to show a dry-sump LT1 and a DCT. The DCT will cost a little more than the A8, and the Z51 is the cheapest C7 with the dry-sump. The current C7 Z51 1LT A8 Coupe with no other options has an MSRP of $65,785 - the C8 will not be cheaper than that.
I expect GM will do its best to keep the new model increase to a minimum, but we are still looking at a car that costs more than $65k, and probably closer to $70k.

IF YOU BELIEVE ......... GM is going to put millions in vehicle development plus 600 million in plant revisions, to sell you a Corvette for 7k more than the C-7 YOU have already bought the London bridge awaiting delivery.
If they can, .... it will be built by a China copied design of the NSX. The multi billion dollar company is not going to recover expenses . Buy a chocolate Easter Bunny mean while. Slick sales people will take your down payment with a smile. I bought a Harley and I knew the MSRP. Delivery was 20% more when the dust settled.
Believers, please rush in your order form. You can resell for a quick 20k.

Most Corvette owners I have met are people who have planned, saved, and dreamed for years before they were able to buy their first Corvette - often a used or stripped down base model.
Not some ditzy idiot with more money than sense, no manners and a big mouth.
