Yes, with a $60k base price, the ME car would absolutely sell a bunch... might even hit 50k units/yr like in '84.

If it's under $65K I can afford it. Once my daughter is out of daycare I can afford the "Z06"

Just ate breakfast at IHOP... no C8 Corvettes for sale!

Hotcakes indeed!

BUT... you can get a Big Three pancake breakfast for $6.99, or an All You Can Eat pancake breakfast for $5.99, so go figure.

Mid-Engined Corvette Could Start At $60K, Platform Issues Persist

Yes, and the easter bunny COULD deliver one to me in a few weeks. As always, nothing to see here.

Buy ONE C8 for $150K and get a second one for free (just pay separate shipping and handling)

The more important question is will it make money for GM at $60K? They have a classic case of a Laffer Curve here. At a certain point an increase in price will result in a drop off of sales. That's a different point than when a drop off in sales will result in a decease in profits. I'm sure the bean counters have all sorts of equations to determine this, but they might not be in favor of the buyer.

What world do you live in thinking the C8 will be a little over base C7, the dealers will mark it up into the stratosphere. Just as easy to sell one high then two low.

How many decades of new Corvette generations and various model introductions will it take for some knuckle heads to finally understand that GM can make more Corvettes than the public will ever buy.

$60k is no supercar. Itll sell ok but don't expect to see many on the roads. I see maybe 1 or 2 C7s in a week and I'm sure itll be the same with the new car. It's probably the last ICE Corvette so get ready for fully electric models soon.
Which means the end of an icon is coming soon.

You see only 1 or 2 C7s per week? You see 1 or 2 C7s per hour where I live.

Don't think I have read/seen anything that makes me believe the base ME car will be a "supercar".

Of course they CAN, but do they actually ever do that? It's my understanding that every Corvette built is an ordered car. They may very well strong-arm dealers into to taking more cars than they want to, but GM does not build Corvettes on spec. So that begs the question of your post. I think your "knuckle heads" are straw men you conjured up. There isn't anyone here who does NOT understand that GM is capable of making more Corvettes than they can sell. It's just that it would be a stupid business decision. That is so self-evident that it isn't worth discussing.

Corvette was never intended to be a car that you will meet every fifth car on the road. It is intentionally a limited production car.

I always laugh when I hear people complain of dealer mark-ups. If it is an issue where you live order your car from someplace else...its so trivial that the only people who should be paying mark-ups are those poor uninformed folks that actually believe the salespeople have their best interest at heart. The big Corvette dealers are already offering allocations at MSRP and having a car delivered to a local GM dealer is often free of charge...or hell order your car and get a museum delivery and drive it home!
