I agree with this. Our local Porsche dealer sells mostly Cayenne's and Macan's, with a few Boxster's and Cayman's thrown in. 911's are great cars but not really big sellers....the reason is PRICE. Way too expensive for most buyers.

Their SUV's on the other hand, are damn near as fast, hold more stuff and sell at reasonable prices. If not for the SUV sales, Porsche would be a memory.

Correct.

..The guy T&G bought an old used C6, was unable to spend $55K, for a base C7, yet claims not blinking @ $100K, to $115K+ for a new C8!!

... Can't make this stuff up!!

Yep, there would be no 911 without the SAV sales, and similarly, there would be no Corvette without Chevrolet truck and SUV/SAV sales.

Not sure how and why the Cayennes or even Caymans, keep getting thrown in on sports car (two-seater) discussions versus the C7/C8??

Cayman isn’t a 2 seat sports car?

You do know Alcatara is just a suede vinyl invented by the Japanese because they have so few cows to slaughter they can't get good leather for car seats ? God's honest truth. I've never understood its appeal.

I like smooooth cowhide, myself. MB Tex is a second choice, but its better than Alcatara.

Yes, of course Boxster/Cayman is a two-seat sports car, but 911 isn't exactly. It has those little kid jumpseats, which Boxster/Cayman do not.

Joe is confused, Cayenne is an SUV/SAV.

I believe Cayman come as both 2 and 4 seaters. 911's are 4 seaters.

It is crazy how much 911's cost. A base model is almost 50% more expensive than a Cayenne. No way it costs more to produce.

That's what makes Corvettes such incredible performance bargains. You have to spend at least twice as much on a Porsche to get the same performance.

No, both Boxster and Cayman are strictly two seaters. No jumpseats behind because it is a true mid-engine car, with the engine compartment directly behind the driver and pax seats. 911 is a rear-engine design.

Ignore him. He and the OP are twins separated at birth.

Yeah I realized I was thinking of the Evora. You can order them as a 2 or 4 seater. Although no adult will fit in the back seat.

I haven't read beyond this post. But truly, does anyone care what one person looking for attention says on an anonymous internet? Really?

OK? The provenance doesn't really change the fact that I prefer the look and feel of it to leather.

Are you fine with your invented plastic and carbon fiber dash panels, or is the natural and far more costly and difficult to work with wood preferable to you?

Honestly, reads like desperation.
Only thing worse than a 911 troll is a C6 troll. Keep them coming C6 Man...you will get better with practice. At least the 911 trolls can afford a C7....and who knows.....they may have actually owned one. At least you can read about them. Just glad you are not allergic to plastic

Trust that many folks here can afford $100k price tag on the ME car, just like the OP (and of course, some here cannot), but it is simply a price/performance equation. I hope the base model ME car isn't anywhere near $100k, if it is, it will be the end of Corvette as it has been known for generations.

Boggles me as to why some people think it a negative for GM to continue to provide a great sports car for the masses? If you want something more exclusive, there are many options already available for one to chose from, and not too many in the "for the masses" segment. GM would be completely insane to give up the space that Corvette absolutely dominates.
the space issue is a very good argument, just not sure how they can maintain it with the mid engine design.

They are continuing the Stingray branding for the base the C8 for a reason. It will be an affordable base car. Deal with it car snobs.

Hey! Why all the C6 hate? Lol

I'm still in a C6. It's tastefully modified inside and out. Looks much better than the day it came from the factory. And truthfully I barely have time to drive it.

It really creates a dilemma cause it's only worth about $30k, and I'd have to spend 3x more to actually be driving a nicer or faster car.

Just saying.
