If C8 is Auto...What will you do?

I'll pass... got to be three pedals.

I estimate approximately 2 years before gradually giving in.

I am tired of pumping on a clutch pedal that only lets me change gears. I want one with an automatic clutch that lets me change gears without moving my leg up and down. That frees up the leg to do left foot braking which can decrease lap times. On the street it would be a dream to have a direct drive transmission that doesn't require pumping the clutch pedal especially in heavy traffic that is creeping along at 4 or 5 mph. As for rowing the gears the paddles let you do everything the stick through the floor lets you do with the flick of your fingers. The stick through the floor is nothing but a gear selector and that is what the paddles are. The differences between what the C7 has are two. No clutch pedal and no torque converter. Can replace two transmissions with one and keep all of the best features of both except for the variable gear ratio inherent in torque converters which helps with a standing start. Manual drivers gain quicker and more predictable shifts and don't give up anything while drag racers using the current auto trans give up the ease the torque converter gives them to launch the car.

Buy one. It's not 1980 any more. Autos are better than manuals in every measurable way now, and have been for the last 10 or 15 years (performance, MPG, etc.)
Manuals aren't "engaging" or "fun" for me, and haven't been since I've been able to afford fast cars. If it was a slow car, then yeah, I'm taking a manual, because that's really the only thing they're good at any more . . . making a slow car feel faster.

Assuming it is a well-tuned DCT, not a traditional TC slushbox?
The exact same thing I'll do if it is a manual: wait 6 or so years until they deprecate a bit and my income raises a bit, and buy a nice used one as a toy!

My last daily driver was an automatic, and I have absolutely no complaints because it was a great automatic, but my new daily driver is a manual and it makes me a lot happier. I don't see myself going back to an automatic unless I injure my leg or something. If the C8 is auto only I'll look somewhere else.

How do you quickly rev the engine really loudly while going under every over-pass or through a tunnel with an auto?

As long as it has some type of transmission, I’ll be happy.

We have owned 53 clutched manuals in a row. As to the OP’s question, “what will you do,” we will enjoy the 2020 ME’s DCT.
Times change, and so shall we. The ME will have many advantages in so many other areas, that we are looking forward to experiencing them.
