Well I mean the same thing as if it did... look from afar because I still can't afford it.

I sat in 2 hours of traffic once in the 84. I went a total of 1 mile. I didn't drive the car for two months after that because my left leg hurt so much. For whatever reason that clutch is stupid heavy and you have to go all the way to the floor... otherwise everything grinds. The 55 with it's full manual linkage and tractor style 3 speed is easier to shift....

buy that new Porsche Taycan. If I'm going to get forced to buy an automatic, I might as well get up to date and go all electric while I'm at it.

Buy one anyway.

I held out on the Gen 3 CTS-V until the sales guy handed me the keys to one. I didn't care what transmission it had in it.

I might keep my C7 Z06 longer though...

If the C8 comes out auto only I will never own one. I didnt buy my C7 to commute or sit in traffic, thats what my commuter car is for.

Automatics dont have a soul. I dont care if they shift faster than we have the ability to record, who cares? Its not like you are banging the thing off redline with every shift, there nowhere in the USA you can do that legally, the car is just too fast.

Autos might be good in a specific race application but as far as enjoyment and fun factor go you cant even compare the two.

Honestly it shocks me how many people choose an auto over the stick these days for pleasure focused cars such as these. Also the clutch has such a light touch from the factory, I dont even get the complaints in traffic. Honestly the pedal feel is as soft was my v6 5 speed completely gutless Silverado. You want to complain, come drive my built STi in traffic for a few hours and you will have a whole new level of respect for the smoothness and ease of the vettes manual drivetrain.

You do realize not all people think alike? I'm pretty much bored with my automatic and will probably get a stick next time. But you have to remember that some prefer different options. Their idea of fun doesn't necessarily match your kicks. But nevertheless, I do understand the way you feel. Thank you.

Is that official from GM?

I didn't think we have anything official except rumors.

I tell ya I go between our 2018 CTS-V and our 2016 Z06 M7. They are both great cars.

I’ll buy it. I’m over manual tranny’s. Gimme a DCT any day over manual. The tranny in my McLaren is a leap beyond the A8 in my C7 ZR1, but I hope the C8 DCT rocks out of the gate.

I would seriously be put off by the auto. We're losing more and more driving involvement in all new cars and I am not about that. I don't want a Vette for keyboard racing where hundreds of seconds around a track I'll never go to are argued. I want a Vette (or any sports car) for the experience, it's all about the thrill of being connected to the car and having your inputs actually result in the outcome. Today any kid can drive an auto sports car at 8 10ths with little practice. New cars are basically video games at this point. I'll probably stick with my C4 and have fun with it. Would probably add a C6 Z too. But that will be the only ones for me.

To answer your question - I would still buy one. Given the option, I'll take one with a 3rd pedal.

On the street it would be a dream to have a direct drive transmission that doesn't require pumping the clutch pedal especially in heavy traffic that is creeping along at 4 or 5 mph. As for rowing the gears the paddles let you do everything the stick through the floor lets you do with the flick of your fingers. The stick through the floor is nothing but a gear selector and that is what the paddles are. The differences between what the C7 has are two. No clutch pedal and no torque converter. Can replace two transmissions with one and keep all of the best features of both except for the variable gear ratio inherent in torque converters which helps with a standing start. Manual drivers gain quicker and more predictable shifts and don't give up anything while drag racers using the current auto trans give up the ease the torque converter gives them to launch the car.

Bill, after reading your posts for years I am shocked to hear this from you.. hopefully the corvette faithful follow suit!
