C8 Twin Turbo was testing at VIR on Thursday - Possible big crash
I was instructing at VIR this weekend. Thursday an email was sent delaying any entry into the paddock until 7:30 PM at the earliest which is a good bit later than normal. Event organizers apologized explaining that their hands were tied with a private "high security" track rental. Chatter in the paddock this weekend was that Chevy was there testing the TT C8 and that one crashed which caused the delay in them wrapping up and leaving on time. This was confirmed to me by a source I won't give any details on.
Someone needs to get a drone on stand-by in Danville
EDIT - Someone at the track found a piece of the car GM missed

I hate to say it but this does fall in line with the fact that I saw at least 6, possibly 7, C8's pass my house on the morning of 3/22 as I had previously posted. And when I saw them later that same evening, there were only 5 in the group.

Crashes happen, and that’s why GM wants every track-driven prototype to have a roll cage and harnesses. I wouldn’t be surprised if the traction management system or the lack of one is what caused the accident.

If Chevy wanted to do something badass with the TT version, it would make the turbo systems sound more like the Pagani Huayra with loud wastegates and turbos as opposed to screaming exhaust levels. Have the dual-mode exhaust option standard there though.

Doubtful, although definitely possible. I'd expect the track stuff to be delivered on a truck, they are generally used by different groups than the folks doing the over the road convoy stuff.

Was Mr Reuss driving it?
Apologies, but I couldn't hold myself

I wish they would get the N/A Stingray finished before worrying about the TT Z06

Given the development cycle time to make a car, it's perfectly normal for one group to be putting the finishing touches on the standard car while another team does powertrain testing on the hi-po one.

Yeah, couldn't agree more......... ricers even have trumpets affixed to their wastegate's, HST this would be cool on the TT ME!

The turbo car would be quieter, FYI.

Gross over-simplification based on an assumption.
IF everything after the turbos is the same, then yes, the turbo car will be quieter.
However, if the turbo car has a completely different exhaust system, then all bets are off. Very possible that is the case.

I don't see any straight piped or CAT-less and Muffler-less cars coming out of any factories do you?

Hope it was driver error with no injuries as opposed to the car torque snapping in half.
