Default Spoiler....I'm scared

I have to admit, I am worried the spoiler for the C8. Every picture I see makes it look like its going to be hideous. It also looks like it is going to be fixed and not auto adjusting like on other ME cars.

I remember a few months ago about GM patenting some active aero components specifically for mid-engined cars. My guess is the fixed spoiler is most likely a decoy.

I'm scared too. It might come out of my closet at night and kill me.

Or, just get the spoiler-less option. That works too.

The rear wing is absolutely hideous.
If it survives to the production car...

Oh Boy, does GM/Chevrolet have it made with this car or what?!?!?

What kind of people go online to talk about "I'm scared I might not like everything about this car"? The short answer, is people who are emotionally invested (okay, yeah, so maybe even a little unstable too).

It makes me a bit sad for the GM engineers and designers who know that every decision they make is going to disappoint someone. Maybe even someone who wanted to love everything about the car, but just couldn't get around something that didn't sit how they wanted.

In the end, no one will ever make my 100% perfect car. I do understand that several variables like regulation, crash testing, aerodynamics, resilience to bad weather, and a million other factors go into consideration.

As a group, let's see what the car actually looks like and what options are offered before we cry foul.

Trust the design is going to have to live up to the Corvette name and history. Trust that GM/Chevrolet knows that Americans (at the very least) are emotionally attached to the name and product. Trust that they have YOU in mind in their design, because they do.

Who cried? All I see in this thread is a few people giving an opinion about what they have seen in real life nor did anyone say "I am not buying it now!".

Why would you be scared about something you haven't even seen yet? No one knows what the final product will look like, the thing is covered in camo and fake padding.

I doubt the active aero will be on the inexpensive base model. It will be reserved for Z06/ZR1 equivalent.

the spoiler on the test mules looks like crap....similar to a late 1980s / early 1990s aftermarker spoiler for a Honda Accord or Prelude.
Hope it's just on there to throw us off. However, strange they'd be "testing" so much with a fake part?
If that's the real spoiler, then hopefully there is a spoiler delete option or a better-looking version available

You will get use to it. Just like every other thing on previous Vettes that didn't blow you away.

I would like a wing like found on the 1970 Dodge SuperBird.

Not gonna 'appen, but I want it anyway.

I hope that like the Mustang there will be a spoiler delete option. I don't expect it though, since the Mustang's hindquarters were sculpted to create sufficient downforce for the GT. The C8's **** doesn't look like it's designed to do so. Of course, looks are often deceiving when it comes to aerodynamics.

Until I see a C8 in a showroom will reserve judgement, not like they are going to build a white elephant.
The only scary part is maybe the price? Just so much will spend on a car I can only use about 5 or 6 months of the year.

What if they decided to make an ugly car?

I have had several discussions with my local Corvette club members and most of us do not like the C8 with the spoiler that was on the car in Germany. Lately the photos have shown the car driving around with no spoiler and it looks much better to me. Hopefully the car will have active aero and the ugly spoiler has been on there to throw us off. Time is running out. Regardless the car should look awesome. Without the spoiler the C8 looks faster.

Default Spoiler looks dated?

Well there are some camo cars where the spoiler was covered quite thinly and you can see the actual thickness. While still not modern looking or attractive it is sleeker than the other super thickly wrapped spoilers that are flat out silly looking! I do worry the spoiler will not be good looking. The newer Camaro SS has a spoiler looking very 1980’s.

I hope they do not much this back of the car up with an unsightly spoiler. The Camaro looking lights are tough on the eye already? 🙂

This spoiler, that spoiler, ANY spoiler--is the last thing we should be worrying about this vast expanse of sheer bulk...

Default Fair point

Maybe the dated spoiler was selected to accent the dated exhaust pipes? Lol.

Just having some fun, I have one on order subject to the reveal being a negative shocker.
