Are you six-perienced?
Have you ever been Six-sperienced?
Well then, DCT or not, the lack of a MANual transmission in a "sports" car is a glaring omission. Especially in an new Corvette.
Yes, I know Double Clutch Transmissions are computer controlled lightning fast shift machines. The next Big Thing. And wholly appropriate for the GM flagship. Of course, I also know that DCTs are also more complex, heavier, and much more expensive to repair if (when) something goes wrong.
But even more importantly - at least for those of us who like to DRIVE the car versus sit like a spectator in the stands and let the car drive for us - a six, seven or more speed MANual transmission is MANdatory in an sports car.
I hope GM will make a MANual transmission available in the C8, even though it may be slower to shift, lighter, less complex, more reliable, and cheaper to include. And much cheaper to repair if that is ever needed. Other than the rare new clutch, I've NEVER had a problem with a manual transmission - including the one in my 2011 CAMRY!
So, while some people might be happy with SissyShiftTM (sorry, I meant paddle shifters), we REAL MEN want to DRIVE, not sit and watch the car do it for us.
And before the flames start, much of this was intended to be tongue in cheek, so save the outrage for the NY Times, CNN and Washington Post.
Honestly, I can't imagine a Corvette without a manual transmission (1982 notwithstanding, they lost their supplier that year).
All that said, I hope the Mid Engine Corvette is a smashing runaway success for GM. And for everyone who buys one.
But, absent a manual transmission at least being available as an option, I can't imagine any car being a full-on no kidding Corvette.
You know, the kind MEN buy...
So, Are You Six-sperienced?
Well are ya?
[Did I shift 5 or did I shift 6...in all the excitement, I forgot myself.]

The emphasis on "man" in every word is so cringy. If you need to shift your own gears to make yourself feel like a man, then clearly your manhood is lacking in several departments.

You do know that the C7 M7 has a computerized rev-matching feature so that the namby-pamby owners can pretend to downshift like a really-truly racin' car driver without actually having to learn any skills

While I do not need to shift my own gears to feel like a man, for me they are just more fun to drive. My wife who doesn't need or want to feel like a man also prefers a manual in her cars.
Someone in another thread suggested it might be a second year option to keep the heat going, which might make sense as they know they can sell all they can make the first year.
Again I never heard someone say that they can do it better or faster than a DCT, just that a manual adds to the driving pleasure for some. There was a reason that Porsche had to bring it back.
Now get out there a win those DE's!

Dumbest thread I've seen on here in a while...and that's saying something for this forum.

If they do this, I expect the manual transmission to cost a thousand bucks more.

Remember when you weren't a man if you owned a car with a cab instead of an open aired carriage... or if you owned a carriage instead of a horse... or if you owned a horse instead of walking...
Yea, neither do I because the internet didn't exist back then to give morons like that a platform. Take your egotistical misogynistic self elsewhere, you give Corvette a bad name.

Ugh. I love manuals, but this kind of insecure bullshit kills me.
Let people drive what they want. Front engines, mid engine, v8, turbo 4, who cares? So dumb to flame other car enthusiasts because their interest doesn't align with yours.
How pedestrian can you be.

I prefer a manual transmission in any true drivers car, it has no relevance on my manhood or perceived manliness..I also think having a true DCT is a huge step in the right direction IN ADDITION to; meaning not replacing the manual.

MANual- auto. Whatever. Let’s be honest. 95% of you bring your car to the dealer to have the oil changed. Let’s not start a dick measuring contest over who figured out how to work a gear box
