Default Was I wrong?

Ok, maybe I was having a bad day. Got the email from Chevrolet announcing the C8 logo. Whoopee. I'm so tired of Chevy dragging its feet on the C8, so I fired off this reply. Was I wrong?

"You know, I'm just about ready to give up on Chevrolet. You treat your customers like a bunch of first graders. Oh, look, the new Corvette symbol! Come on, that has been in circulation for nearly a year. How about treating us like Porsche treats potential customers. No BS, just straight information and photos of the product and details on availability. Your media roll-out plan is downright insulting. Stop playing games. Do you think delaying the introduction is going to build more hype? Not. At. All. Unveil the damn thing already."

Bracing for impact . . .

I don't know, but I do see some folks around here acting like a bunch of first graders from time to time...

I hope it was therapeutic for you. Because nobody will ever see it. Those email blasts are automated and don't process replies.

Don't worry OP, it went to an unmonitored mailbox where no one will see it. However, it was rather naive of you to not understand how reveals and teasers are handled on much-anticipated, new products. GM is using the same tactics many other companies use.

wow, quite the temper tantrum going on there...NO, you can’t have desert before dinner!

Yes, Porsche will gladly provide details after a reveal...recent 992 rollout was a good example. Did the release info before...nope.

718 Spyder, GT4 follow-ons been out in force with camo for couple of years. Any official word yet? Nope. Reveal date/location. Nope.

Their media rollout begins on 7.18.19.

GM spends a lot of money on email marketing.

Phil, I know you seem excited to see this new generation car. But just like a fine wine, GM will not release any car before it's time.

I disagree that Chevy/GM treats customers like first graders. They're simply doing their due diligence with this revolutionary new generation Corvette.

Patience is a virtue, sir.

They are simply playing to the lowest common denominator. Otherwise they'll miss a lot of customers who prefer picture books to those with actual words in them.

Interesting that you feel a company owes you information on a product that isn’t even produced or offered for sale.

Did you write them the same email regarding the new Blazer, Camaro, Traverse?

Your comments are the feeling of many potential buyers but this marketing strategy is old school advertising and car introductions that were used before the internet. The C8 should have been introduced earlier in the year and this years Bash should have been used to go over the details of the C8 like they did with the C7. I doubt that the introduction of the C8 will top the one made for the Challenger Hell Cat or the Porsche 992.

I think my favorite reveal was the Hellcat reveal.

The Hellcat was the worst kept secret in the automotive world.

Everyone knew it was coming, but FCA had everyone convinced that horsepower would be somewhere in the 500s. Even after photos were released, they were still mum on horsepower.

Finally, when HP numbers were released, a collective brick was shat.

That was pretty cool.

I suspected a surprise was coming after a Conversation I had with a couple of Chrysler engineers at Chryslers at Carlisle in 2014. I had mentioned an interest in purchasing a Challenger SRT 8 and their reply was "wait a year. It'll be worth it."

I am hoping that we get a similar surprise with the C8 reveal.

No reply doesn't mean they don't read comments. Notwithstanding, the marketing strategy for the C7 worked well six years ago. I was hoping they would have adopted a strategy that provided more information much sooner. Remember, Chevrolet never officially stated they were developing the C8 until last week. Could it be the glut of unsold C7s forced them to hold back? This slow-roll reveal has tested everyone's patience and as a daily reader of the forum, it has roiled quite a few people who argue over speculative comments. The good news is our wait is almost over. Then we can earnestly discuss the merits of this game-changer.

Email address is Chevrolet@emails.chevrolet.com. Can't say with certainty that it doesn't process replies unless of course, you work for Chevrolet.

Even if they somehow do see it, they're not going to reply. Not sure why you're acting like this.

Likely the only hype to generate sales are top notch reviews, not two bit lame teasers. GM really does suck as a company, but heck I like Corvette since first saw a black convertible when was a kid. I agree with you btw.
