Default What I want on a C8

I want the ability to mount a bike rack. I was heading to a friend's house and had to take my daily driver Subaru. At an intersection I was next to someone in a Porsche Cayman S with roof racks hauling a road bike. I get it ,some of you think it's defiling the car but I see it as making it more of a driver's car rather than a garage ornament. If you could mount a hitch you could tow a trailer with race slicks and a Jack.

Ok flame on.

Lead the way... And watch the removable top pop off along with your bicycles while you're going 100+ mph on the highway.

Why are people voicing their wish lists 3 months before the reveal? It's not like Tadge is going to tell the whole team and Mary Barra "Hold on, (insert username) on the forums wants (insert random item) on the C8! Hold off on production, tell the suppliers to wait, and tell the current suppliers to keep making C7 parts. Also make the part, test it repeatedly to see its fail points, fix those, test it, and then have suppliers bid to make it. C8 reveal is now July 2020!"

Listen friend...when you put the words subaru and cayman in the same paragraph around here...

Everyone interprets that as cross dresser ,boy George and Rock Hudson around here.

No flaming here, but I think you're (in a way) barking up the wrong tree. That's something tje aftermarket would handle.

I'm sure that if there is interest, companies like Rhode Gear, Saris, and Thule will come up with some sort of Rack for it.

Usually, even the factory accessory racks sold by dealerships are engineered and buult by a third party.

Seems to work on anything...apparently this was the way to go on the C7.

Nomination for dumbest C8 thread ever, and there have been some pretty bad ones.

Then buy a roof rack attachment from the aftermarket... what’s the issue? If it has a roof, you will be able to attach something to it. It’s not as if the Cayman was designed with roof racks in mind.

People have always found a way to mount a trailer hitch on every generation of Corvette. If you want a bike rack on your c8 that would be the way to go. Forget the roof.

Unfortunately, I would have to agree. But, on the C8 Forum he has a lot of company. I can hardly wait to get my C8 with the
two tone paint, luggage rack, tow hook and bike rack options.

Another Porsches are better because thread hits a new low....heheheh

does porsche of america pay you guys to troll corvette sites with these kinds of threads? Hehhe (Im kidding)

i enjoy these crazy threads yet it does seem as though the continual porsche references are kind of funny.

thanks for the laughs

and yes roof racks or bike racks should be available from the aftermarket if thats your concern...

if it has a roof Id imagine roof racks will be offered by the aftermarket if there is sufficent demand for them to create a profit...

i never thought of putting bikes on the roof of any car but if you do....good luck..where there is a will...there is always a way

Maybe along with the trailer hitch, they could add rear air suspension, so that I could tow my 23' center console and leave the Grand Cherokee at home?
Lets face it, the C8 will be less of a daily driver than the C7, and no one has ever suggested a C7 is a replacement for an suv.

Some of y'all are really kinda "dickish" in your replies. You're really perpetuating the "old man" stereotype.

I see nothing in his post that says "Posches are better" or that it should be able to tow a boat or anything of the sort.

Nowhere in his post do I see anything that even remotely resembles a complaint. All I see is a post where a guy saw a bike rack on a Porsche and hoped that there would be some provision on the C8 that would allow for that.

Sometimes I need a reminder of why I stay away from the Corvette clubs. This thread certainly helps.

When a company designs by committee and does all things it produces an Aztec.

No. You're actually the winner there with your ridiculous thread on fiber glass.

I have to say, I understand the source of naysay in here but...there is something admirable about a one-car-do-it-all...and though the guy in this vid is a bit of a dbag (personal experience with him that I won't get into) this was a pretty inspirational video...the guy is talented...I won't deny him that.

I think everyone should watch this vid just to push the mind into what you can potentially do with one car or one space.

Is that RHD? There is a guy here who converts and exports new RHD Vettes to England, the middle east, Australia and South Africa. A Holden was sold here as a Chev SS, Caprice for police cars, Pontiac G8 and GTO. The steering wrack on this car is from one of those cars. Last Holden was built in Australia in October 2017. GM entertained the idea of building Holdens in Canada but the tooling had reached the end of it's cycle.
