How much horsepower will a C8 Z06 have?
The current C7 Z06 has 650HP, I can't imagine 650HP in a ME car.
Base C8 will be a monster already at anything near 500HP.
Is it possible that it may have more than 700 HP, that would be Insane?

You won't have to worry about that for a year or two.

"During the last day of the Texas Mile event organized at the Victoria Regional Airport, the Ford GT (That's a 2005-2007 variety) hit 174.5 mph (280 kph) at the quarter-mile mark, reaching 240 mph (386 kph) at the half-mile point before the supercar effectively made history. At the one-mile point, M2K Motorsports broke the 300-mph barrier by topping out at an impressive 300.4 mph (483.44 kph) – all within a mile (1.61 kilometers).
It goes without saying this is far from being a stock Ford GT. It’s said to have a little over 2,000 horsepower at the wheels, but in reality, the car actually has more power, closer to 2,500 hp according to M2K Motorsports. The difference comes from the limitations of the dyno used to measure the sheer power of the upgraded 5.4-liter V8 engine since it simply can’t handle the entire output."

I'm nearly certain the C8 Z06 will be over 700. Maybe as much as 750 like the C7 ZR1. The C8 ZR1 will have at least 800 or more.
A 500hp base model is enough for me.

C8 horsepower will exceed C7 horsepower between the corresponding models. Low end torque? I'm not so certain.

Not until now did I realize the Z06 will be a f'n monster.
I'm really pumped to see what the future holds.
Makes me forget about the Porsche 911 2020 model.

According to rumors
ZO6 RWD: 850hp 5.5L DOHC V8TT LT7
ZR1 AWD: 850hp 5.5L DOHC V8TT LT7 + 150hp FWD electric motor(s).
The ZO6 may possibly use a 48V mild hybrid electric motor/generator unit to generate low end torque until to full boost.
There's also rumors of a 4.2L V8TT but they're probably derived from Cadillac's Blackwing. Not really much point to such a small displacement twin turbo V8 since the naturally aspirated LT2 will already be just shy of 550hp.

One thing is absolutely certain: HP will be > 650.
IOW, far more than useful.

Performance has always been present, at least for the last several years. For me, it will come down to looks and quality of overall car. If so, could be the direction for me as well

am I the only one that wants a high revving NA engine in the next Z06? lightweight track car.. Id be happy with 550hp NA w/8k redline and weight under 3400-3500lbs
Maybe they can give us a Z06 RS/Z06 PRO.. lol...

500 hp 6.2 base, 600 hp NA DOHC Z06, 800 hp Turbo DOHC ZR1 with torque at no more than 600ftlbs.

Also don't think the Z06 version will have 850 hp! More than needed. Again we'll see.
SIDEBAR:
Expect that Andy Pilgrim leaked FWD hybrid will be available as an option for a number of C8 models for GM's mpg goals! My guess is that short ducration (light weight small battery) will have Stop/Start and only have the ICE turn on when at crusing speed in "normal driving." That is where a lot of energy is wasted and the hybrid will capture some of the wasted braking energy. Sure when driving in anger you get the extra ~150 hp and instant torque! EPA doesn't care what happens at WOT since that is not where the car is used a significant percentage of time.
Know many Vette folks don't care about mpg (myself included) but it's for GM's corporate goal. Mary Barra switched almost all engineering to EV's because it's a sound corporate goal and financially logical for them to stay in biasness. I'd sure prefer Stop/Start light weight hybrid to driving an EV!

yea would be nice.. not many 600hp NA engines, but I getcha.. honestly the Viper ACR vs regular Viper has the same HP.. but lighter and aero.. I want a TRACK Corvette..like a 911 GT3RS, Vipe ACR, AMG Black Series... I kinda feel like that was the C6 Z06... but needed more.. or attempted on the C7 GS.. I dunno, I never warmed up to the C7 Z06 with the supercharger, added weight, cooling issues etc... I think it's a great car, very cool, but I dunno

I'm not modifying my first C8 much at all because I plan to trade for the Z06 when it's available. It'll be amazing if GM throws us for a loop and offers the Z06 right out of the gate but that's not likely.

Honestly, the calls for low end torque, I don't 100% understand. I'm not going to be towing in a Vette, or pulling stumps.
The most enjoyable cars I have driven (at least in anger on track) were all mid to upper RPM screamers. Not saying they had nothing down low, but power really came on mid-RPM and they pull like freight trains until 8k+. That with a close ratio trans, total blast to drive.
