"While the C8 hype is as high as it’s ever been, another problem has presented itself: lack of interest in the current C7. According to Bloomberg, Chevy dealerships are currently experiencing decreased demand for the current Corvette while interest continues to grow for its successor.
Obviously, that’s a problem for the existing stock of C7s dealerships are keen to sell. Some Corvette customers are even coming to place deposits for the C8. "We’ve been taking deposits for a rumored mid-engine Corvette since 2014,” said Sean McCann, floor manager at Stingray Chevrolet in Florida. "People are canceling their orders (on 2019s) and starting to hold back, because they want to wait and see what’s going to come out.”

Don't understand why there's such a big deal being made, it happens all the the time when a new model is getting close. Corvettes, other cars, trucks, phones, TVs, toasters, etc...
Interest in the "old" outgoing model dwindles.

Auto industry analysts describe novel phemenon: when a new redesigned car model's release is imminent, sales of the old model falter. "It's as if buyers want the latest and greatest generation of a vehicle," said one leading analyst. "Once that new and improved model is announced, the old one starts to look old. It's as if buyers view it as an inferior product."

So this is a problem how? Whatever 'carbuzz' perceives as a problem for GM for C7 sales, GM already predicted that long ago and will deal with it - they are miles ahead of any media detractors and solutions looking for made-up problems.

Happen in 1967 and look what we got in 1968 a real one year dog! Those C7 will be a bidding war when you see this new C8 with the V6 and electric motors front and rear and the China made cord you will receive for charging! (BLOWN UP BOLT) with front and rear spoilers

Such an easy 'problem' to 'fix':
Offer a 10 year, 200K bumper-to-bumper (no exceptions on anything) on current C7's.
I'd roll with that. Make it a trouble-free proposition that you NEVER have to worry about the car and it becomes an easy sell.
Or a 10K discount on price.
Or just wait until they sell

C8 announced and C7 sales are skyrocketing!
Let’s take this another direction, if C7 sales were skyrocketing with the official confirmation of the C8 what would that say about the new model? Lol, people are just foolish to think that anything abnormal is happening with C 7 sales? BTW, how many iphone 8’s are flying off the shelves these days?

To clinch the deal they will also except the C4 for trades
