What if..

New Corvettes have always been out of most working people's financial reach. For me, I recognize them as a terrific value dollar for dollar. I'm very pleased with my new C7. Just as I was very pleased with my new C3.

For my own satisfaction - which likely includes some pride - I like having a nice car.
And I think the Corvette is a nice car.
Hmmm, is the ego involved?
I’d say so.

billion dollar car collecting market's entire pricing structure is based on rarity, so yeah, cars rarity and the pride of owning such a rare thing pretty much is ingrained in car culture. But again rarity=higher price is pretty much ingrained in most things in our consumer driven market.

The economy turned around those years, We came out of the recession and oil crisis was over by mid to late 70s

And contrast to....Will the CLOUD be the only place for the 2039 vehicle purchaser to learn about the front engine, rear wheel drive, gasoline powered Corvette sports car? What was a sports car?
Interesting study, including the effect of globalization on the competitive market...and on, and on

Stagflation, was what America was in. Interest rates out of control, gasoline, heating oil and natural gas prices out of control. Even/odd rationing of gas. Filling stations running out. People losing jobs.
Wages stagnant.
Yet, I paid cash for a new C3 in '76.

You are incorrect, the recession ended in 75 and the oil crisis had also subsided by then. 76 ,77,78 were decent years economically. For example the US GDP was running at +5.4% in 76. thats a pretty good clip

Every president since the first bush sold us out to corporate influence. Factories going to Asia. The Dems were no different. Clinton sold our jobs to Mexico with NAFTA. Party affiliation doesn’t matter. The policies have been the same, whether it be the economy or wars.
Dems day whites voted for Trump because of racism but the same people voted for Obama.... People just woke up to the con job the elites on both sides have been pulling on the people is all that was about. Dem and Repub are just 2 sides of the same coin of control and corporate donors who give to both sides: whoever will keep the same policies going.

corvettes are pretty rare...i daily my corvettes and get a ton of thumbs up...I like the positive feedback as people dig I daily my sports cars...
i never want the things I own to own me. I orefer to use them and enjoy them.
when I tell passerbys who compliment me in my new corvette . I thank them and let them know I bought it new and at 132k miles...its been an amazing ownership exoerience. They laugh when I tell them i have a set of snow tires for the winter months.
many of them do remember the days when all cars were pretty much rwd and we used to manage just fine with snow tires...
some people really believe that without awd you cant drive in the winter here in the tri state area...
i laugh a little when I say I understand....
todays cars have abs brakes, active handling...better winter tires...
i think porsche sells a lot of 911s because they come with available awd....
im looking forward to the c8 with its rear mid engine design...when I was a young man in the 1970s...i had a rear mid engine turbocharged lancia scorpion that was anhoot in winter rally like conditions..l
i look forward to daily droving the c8 as it becomes available...with proper snow winter tires for the season of course...
back on topic...not manu corvettes in this area of the country...bmws, mercedes amg and audi s7s...quite a few R 8 s as well..
not so many corvettes although the c7 z06 i see more and more of..lthat 650 hp batmobile did a lot to expamd the corvettes in this area...
the c8 will do even more.,

Especially so, cause there were numerous SUVs and Trucks in that same lot that likely cost more than either.

what if GM knocks it out of the park and gives us a beautiful c8 at a great price....and we start seeing them everywhere. What if they become a common sight? sure it may still be a great track car underneath, but unless you are at a track that doesnt matter at all. 10 to 12 year payment loans exist for cars such as these, so every tom, dick, and harry could "afford it" if they really wanted to. I just thought it a curious topic for discussion.

Sorry your feelings got hurt but there is nothing wrong with what I said. Maybe you dont understand what dime a dozen means. I see multiple corvettes everyday and it doesn't seem to bother me or affect my ownership of them. The fact is they are a common car and the C8 will be the same.

What if?
What if the Vette under the camo is just not a total WOW
or not as aggressive looking as C7? Fearing I may not like it , I bought a 2019 grand sport, Or shall I say stole one.
I do have an order in for a C8 but am a bit skeptical about the rear end...camaro looking will be a turn off for me. Time will tell...

(I much prefer my neighbors and coworkers just thinking I “have a Corvette”.)

Some seek rare vehicles for investment protection, 05/06 Ford GT, 04/05 Porsche Carerra GT, 12 Lexus LFA come to mind.
