How many times have you refilled that expensive wine bottle with "Two Buck Chuck"?

Depends on what your definition of "Supercar" is.
W/o published performance numbers or even what the car is going to look like as a finished product, the question is a bit premature IMO.
Quantifying a "Supercar" is rather subjective as is "Hypercar" compared to a "Supercar". Makes for a decent discussion topic (or argument), but has little value beyond that. It is what it is to the owner of that car and nothing more.

"“The new Z06 is the dividend from competing so successfully in endurance racing,” said Dave Hill, Corvette’s chief engineer. “It combines the strong attributes of the new, sixth-generation Corvette with the spirit, technology and know-how from the race program to form an American supercar with outstanding credentials.”

The point is that the manufacturer's chief engineer, with GM's approval, said the C6 Z06 is a "supercar", and can back it up with performance numbers.
That holds more water than your definition. The "supercar" definition goes much farther than the personal opinion of the car's owner.

Take a Ferrari 458 out for one day and then tell me you still think that a C6 Z06 with a Cobalt steering wheel and lawn chairs for seats and the interior covered with cheap hard plastic is a super car.
Yes performance numbers are impressive but there so much more expected from a true world class sports car than performance alone and how accessible is that performance.
There now Camero that can perform better than a C6z do you think of them as a super car?
I would agree that Corvette punches well above it class but it's ridiculous to consider a car with such a cheap interior in the same class as a Ferrari or Lamborghini. Facts are its just not.
GM has to meet its customer base demand that the Corvette be priced a 1/3 of other world class sports cars. So what GM does is comes close on performance and then you get what you get for materials used and fit and finish.
If GM could get its base customer to buy a 90k base model I sure GM could produce a product with quality materials and better fit and finish.
Bottom line won't happen. Look at the vast majority of CF members who expect world class performance from the C8 and demand that it be a 60k car.
You might get the performance but your not getting world Class materials or fit and finish for 60k.
If the C8 can show the same amount of improvement on the C8 interior as the C7 did from the horrible cheap rental car interior of the C6 then the car will be much closer to Porsche Audi Acura on the interior quality.
I don't think it's fair to expect Ferrari or Lamborghini or Maclaren level of material and workmenship on a car costing 1/3 of these brands.
So answer is No Corvette is a super car. The Corvette may have world class raw performance but it's far from a super car.
Just because GM say it's a super car does not make it one.

It's been an imperfect, but fabulous sports car.

I agree totally best sports car for the money in the world.
Just not what most people would consider a super car.
That is on us a Corvette customers who demand so much from GM but at prices that are 1/3 to 1/2 of other sports cars it's expected to compete with.
I agree GM does an outstanding job for what the customer base is willing to pay.
I was one of those that had hoped GM would keep the front engine rear drive platform alive as an entry level Corvette and then produce the C8 as an upscale sports car that could utilize quality material and spend more on fit and finish and charge prices similar to Porsche Audi Acura of the world.
Bottom line it looks like GM will give us a great sports car for 70k plus options.
So I don't expect that we will see vast improvement on interior quality of fit and finish over that of the C7.
There always compromises that must be made to keep the base model cost down.
Then you live with those same compromises on even the upper level Z cars that have the same switch gear and interior trim that come in base 70k car.

Since the 1980s, Corvette has been the center of the tempest in a teapot that is the supercar controversy.
If Corvette didn't exist, gray-haired auto journalists at cocktail parties would politely ponder whether the 20th century 911 qualified as a supercar, and nobody else would give it a thought.
