Don't know about a W16, never heard of it.

To answer your question: Late model Mustang GT or 2007-2014 GT500. Their sound is intoxicating. I've never met a single car guy who would not agree with that statement.

And personally, I love the sound of a Subaru Boxer engine in full out rally trim, despite only having 4 cylinders. Or a 6 cylinder F1 engine. But yeah, the Mustangs are sexy. Then again so are the V10s and V12s and W16s of the world. I can appreciate a lot of engine sounds regardless of the number of cylinders.

Actually speaking of rally, most of the group B cars were smaller than 8 cylinders, and they are some of the sexiest sounding cars around.

Think when it comes to 6 cylinders I would say the in-lines have the best sound.

There will always be chumps buying labels over substance...

god bless them as its a market success for those that search out preowned labels instead of superior performance and reliability of new corvettes.

i mean no disrespect to those who prefer to purchase preowned exotics...

they have a wonderful place in our automotive landscape..

many of is corvette owners prefer the balance of performance durability and value that transcends the percieved value of a preowned exotic...

i will always admire these exotics and congratulate their owners.

i just dont want to be them even at the exact same price.

for those that do...thank you ...

variety is wonderful...

enjoy

I've driven my brother's GT3RS on many occasions, and its 6 cyl engine sound great to me, especially in the 8K - 9K RPM range. I wouldn't say it sounds better than a 8 or 12 cyl, but it sounds great, at least IMO.
Here's a clip of a GT3 with straight pipes:

Is that some sort of insult to the c8 and those that own them?

I agree....And after a few years of ownership,And once they get about 120 000 miles on it ...they can sell it to the white trash Joe Dirts of this world...who then could put their personal Pep Boys touches to the very used C8 .

That GT3 sound fantastic. Old Punky will have to rethink he hate-filled thought on the 911 . Or at least on the exhaust sound I would hope.

Yes if you use the old Jersey definition of the acronym I R O C

Jersey IROC definition #2 of Top Definition.

I agree. My last Mercedes Benz turbodiesel sedan, was a 3.0 liter in-line 24 valve 6 cyl. My present Mercedes Benz is a 3.2 liter 24 valve in-line 6 cyl. just isn't the same.

However, in gassers the V6, has a slight sound edge to me.

The old XKE's were what I was thinking about.

Another interesting paradigm is C7 Z06 pricing come August (more so than usual when the new gen comes out because of the new platform). If the new base/Z51 model hits it out of the park, Z's will free fall to the $50's. IMHO
Big advantage of the older cars is the depreciation curve. That's not going to change with newer and better cars.

It's pretty hard to beat the sound the sound of the supercharged F-Type V6. However, a lot of that has to do with the Ducati-designed exhaust system.

Like most all V12 noise. Had a V12 XJ-S Roadster when I lived in England. Pretty ugly car with a great sound but it was a company lease so no point in bitching about the looks.

This will most definitely keep some auto executives up at night.

Some more than others.

Ferrari, Lambo not so much.

Porsche, BMW, Audi, Mercedes yes.

Dodge, Ford, etc... hell yes.

I think the first reaction will come in the form of Markups. Not gonna be as easy for companies like Ford to charge high ADMs for the GT500 Shelby when this C8 will beat it with sub 3 seconds, mid-engine, DCT, and it's not a Ford, lol.

I think it will also hurt sales of the ZL1 Camaro. Basically, the same price but the ZL1 is slower to 60MPH, and it's a Camaro.

Dodge will get hurt with Hellcats & Challengers.

Porsche, hell yes. I was 99% sure I was going to hate this C8 and put a deposit on the New 2020 911 S. Easily $130k+

For $50k less I can get a C8 that is faster to 60MPH, mid-engine vs rear, easier to service and less expensive repairs. Plus there are 1,000s of GM dealers nationwide.

I'll most likely order a C8 1LT after the reviews and six months has gone by. Beat the **** out of it then order my C8 Z06 about 3 years later, maybe even the ZR1.

No auto manufacturer is happier today after the C8 reveal last night.

For consumers, it will make the market much more competitive.

The New Benchmark has been set for sport cars, Sub 3.0 or **** it.

It will be just like the gt350/r. There will be a small push from outside of the corvette enthusiast groups for a small period of time and those people will ultimately be right back into higher level vehicles. Once you have grown accustomed to the small details being at a certain level, MOST people don't normally go backwards and stay there. Porsche and everyone listed above makes a product on a completely different level than a mass produced GM vehicle. The c7z and other already destroyed most other sports cars yet most weren't jumping ship from their higher end vehicles and mid engine and exterior styling wont change that.
