Default New C8 display

If we get a lcd /oled display on the c8, I really wish we can put our navigation in there like Audi’s and Mercedes. Otherwise it defeats the purpose of having it there in the first place. A lot of adjustability would be really nice. Maybe even have smartphone integration on it, instead of just on the center screen. What do you think?

I think GM is way past the design phase for the C8 display. We just have to wait until 7/18 to find out if we like it or not.

I think they will have it. I agree with you RM, they should have it.

Just buy a VW and be happy.

You won't like it. VW has what you think you want...

The Audi one is amazing. Google maps satellite view in the gauge cluster should be standard in every car.

All these gadgets are all well and good. But in reality how often would they be used on the road. Most people travel the same routes day in day out.

Would probably use it once in a year. Most of the new features found in cars I don't use.

I use navigation all the time. However, I just use Google Maps on my phone. I dont see any need for Navigation built into the car. Navigation in cars just becomes outdated quickly. Unless you replace your car every few years, it is just going to make your car seem outdated.

You will be able to upgrade the standard 8” dash display to a 12” HD display. That should add some additional info.

As long as you have an internet connection, google maps stays pretty current.

Even other cars offer updates to their nav, just some you have to pay for.

Forget the instrument cluster. Put the map in the HUD.

You can choose to display nav info in the Cadillac HUD. I would hazard it will also be a C8 selectable feature.

I don't think I would trade my ZR1 in on a VW, but that's just me.

Yeah I'd agree. Nav systems in most vehicles are getting more and more outdated now with the advent of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Had the OE nav system in my 2016 Cadillac CTS and ended up using the CarPlay app more. Unless it's fully integrated into the main dash/HUD and not just the center stack location, then it's not that desirable feature to me anymore.

And btw, nav system updated usually are $150/year (at least that's what it was for my CTS) where the CarPlay and Google Maps updates are free and way more current.

This is a great example of the NIH attitude that needs be put in the trash bin for the OEMs. If someone does something like NAV better than u, then just integrate it. Really no need for NAV from the OEMs when either MAPS, or Google works just fine under Car Play or Android.

I'm not really a fan of always taking the phone out and connecting it up in the car for carplay. I'd much rather leave it in my pocket while driving. That's why the integrated google maps such as in the pics I posted above is great - Google keeps it somewhat current and it's convenient.

I actually prefer the HUD system as it is with the bar telling you where to turn and direction. The HUD is focused infinity so no eye refocus needed and minimal info. Looking down at that giant map on the screen, refocusing, scanning for the info needed is going to take at least a second. Way to much time. I use the voice instructions and the HUD when moving and will occasionally glance at screen if stopped. Phone usage is same except no HUD.

Every single day. The Audi display is great and we have it on both our S4 and SQ5 and can't wait to get our Q8 which is the 2nd gen of the display.

I never look anywhere now except the IP.

Except if you have an Audi.

Which uses Google Maps, or more specifically Google Earth. It is constantly up to date since it is the same app.

That last pic would be particularly good if you were in orbit.
