And I agree with you, I don't need to go either... but if I was a top vette salesman in this country, the kind of salesman people order from remotely, over the phone or email, I too would be unhappy, as customers are VERY LIKELY to first call a salesman they KNOW was at the reveal, and ask that salesman what he thought about the car, since he has seen it in person, and when the salesperson can exude genuine honest accurate enthusiasm on that phone call about the car, the customer then is very likely to give a credit card number over the phone or sent across via email 5 min later to put down a deposit and jump on the waiting list, and that is a car sale at full sticker.

Due to a Camo suit at the last party, or some other problem GM had with Rick, he is being excluded from that money making privilege/advantage, and he is going to be a step below the other salespeople, who he is competing against nationally.... which may then have a negative impact for Rick on GM's next reward to their top salespeople.

I noticed a lot of people who are not salespeople and don't understand how dealerships work, have been telling Rick this does not affect his paycheck... when it actually does.

So again, if we are going to pay the guy insults why he does not deserve to go to the party when others get to go, and why he will be earning less money this coming year than he would have otherwise... can we at least please get the insult accurate so he knows what he needs to correct/improve upon moving forward?

I'm giving people an open door to be super negative toward Rick, all that I'm asking for is 100% accuracy on why he is not allowed to go to the party.

Why was Rick excluded from the Reveal? Does anyone here actually know?

And if no one answers, then come tomorrow, a lot of people who watch this forum are going to have hard evidence of which members here "like to throw ignorant insults towards a valuable Corvette guy who is having a bad day, as they pretended they knew why he deserved the bad day, but in fact had no actual clue, and mindlessly told the guy to "suck it up" as if there is no money on the line, when it affects his paycheck substantially by not being able to say he went, when customers call his competitors first who have seen the C8, who did get to go"

I don't know, and I don't care. I haven't insulted him either, but I have to wonder why he thought it was a good idea to bring all the attention he did to the matter by making a video about it. I guess he needed to "cathart." Peeps gotta do what they gotta do for better or for worse.

My vote is for bbb to go to the reveal. We would have a whole novel about the car in a couple days.

The video certainly was self-destructive on multiple levels. Why would a skilled salesperson, which he clearly is, advertise to the world that he wasn't considered important enough by GM to be invited to a reveal of the product he's made his reputation on? Had he been silent, very few would have even noticed.

BBB, you talk about GM hurting him, seems to me he did much more of that to himself.

He might have reacted poorly, I agree.

There is still a reason why he was not invited in the first place.

I would like to see if anyone here actually knows.

BBB aka Mike'a ego is so big he has no idea that the above quote was not a compliment.

You kinda have to spell it out for Mike that it was a dig and his mile long rants are now a joke to every one on the forum.

He really does not understand people now view him as having no credibility with his multiple use of different user names every time CF give him the boot.

I think a better question would be, who is invited? That might help answer why Rick is not. Do we actually know that any “sales” guys and gals are invited, as opposed to some big rich dealer owners or their heirs? I doubt that more than a handful of dealers are invited. These reveal events are about the media and the bloggers, not the buyers and the sales people.

Anyone interested will see the reveal within an hour of it occurring, maybe even live streamed. That includes corvette fanatics and sales people who specialize in a Corvettes. The information at the reveal will most likely be sparse and the sales guys will receive GM briefings as the dealers are brought up to speed. The rest of us will learn the details about the car through internet stories and from sales relationships as the information is provided to the dealers.

Columbus is not a small town, the metro area is nearly 2.5 million. Based on 148 Corvette sales last year, Coughlin is certainly a respected Chevy Dealership well beyond that region, and Rick a valuable part of that success. If dealers are being invited, it’s hard to say why Rick isn’t going. I do not know what their 2019 Corvette sales figures are, but if anything similar to 2018, Rick not being at the reveal should not impact his 2020 sales because Coughlin should have the allocations to remain a major player with a popular product that lesser dealers won’t be able to get.

So, the obvious hate for Rick Conti in this thread is because the haters either have some loyalty to Rick's competition, or they have some axe to grind with Rick over some imaginary offense.
Thanks for making is painfully clear.

Interesting, because those same haters aren't even aware of many things Rick has done for the Corvette community, even prior to the release of the C6.
At least they exposed themselves and their ulterior motives.

Even though Rick knew my out of state order was going to another dealership from the very beginning, he personally went out of his way to help me.
Exactly why I was obligated to order my next 2 Corvettes from Rick, and will be buying my C8 from him as well.
Members of this community should be giving Rick the support he has earned, or should be keeping their unjustified hate to themselves.

Ready, fire, aim, 2019 C8. You missed the target. For the record, Rick Conti was not one of the people I was talking about.

Once again, I've always had a favorable impression of him over the years, but the video in question didn't do him any favors. That's all I've said, and will say.

Off topic for a second... or maybe not...
See if yours or anyone's connections can identify who this fellow is driving the c8. If you can figure out his full real name, I will paypal you or whoever gets it right, 30 bucks on the spot.

If you get it right, I might also reveal what I look like.

It wasn't intended to be a dig. Just some sarcasm based on his prolific writing.

BFD. No one will remember this reveal in 6 months anyway. It will be all about whatever engineering **** up the car exhibits and how pissed people are about it and on the other hand those waiting perched like vultures for the discounting to begin.

This too shall pass.

Oh cry me a river, most members of the Corvette Design and Engineering team who’ve been living/breathing this 24/7 to deliver the C8 to us aren't going either. The list is long, I expect a salesman at a dealership is near the bottom.
