I can't imagine sitting through so much whining and goofiness in these overlong videos. I'm gone after about a minute. Just be cool, shut up and sell some Corvettes. It's about the car, not the salesman. Jeez.......

OK, mean folks here? How 'bout the time Mr. Conti scared the **** out of the old couple saying their new Corvette was stolen, that poor fellow could have had a stroke......
Oh, the fun video of the firearm stuck in the compartment behind the screen, and the chuckles videoing that, not to mention the probing could have discharged the weapon.....I didn't think that was funny in the least.
Sometimes you get the deserves.....

I have followed Rick on CF since the C6 days when he was at Spitzer Chevrolet. Then he moved to EVS in Wisconsin, then Ganley, and now Coughlin Chevrolet. His style is definitely unique but he certainly sold a lot of Corvettes for each of these dealers. GM has disappointed Rick before, as in 2008 when he sold a record number of C6’s for EVS at very little profit, expecting 2009 ZR1 allocation to be based on 2008 Corvette sales numbers. But then Chevrolet decided to base C6 ZR1 allocations on the dealer’s overall Chevrolet sales which resulted in a far smaller C6 ZR1 allocation than expected.

With the C8, as before with the C7 and C6, the Corvette team seeks to establish more of a world class image. Although they certainly appreciate us old longtime buyers we are going away. Their main focus Is on attracting younger buyers. They likely prefer more serious sales professionals like those at a Porsche or premium import dealer vs animated high energy car salesmen. They want the reveal to be a somewhat sophisticated event with no surprises.

Mean or honest ? Post is public wanting attention, people speak the truth and they are mean?
Sad when people care more about stunts and you tube click bait opposed to Customers they are losing.
How many employers would find this sort of thing a positive reflection?

To be honest? This younger person wants an online ordering portal where I can punch in what I want, pay or have financing options available, and not deal with a dealer whatsoever. I understand dealer laws prohibit that, and there will be a lot of kicking and screaming from the dealers to ever give them realistic competition, but I'm an intelligent buyer. I don't need a GM salesperson telling me my wants are stupid and I should buy something completely different cause thats whats on the lot.

Which, is why I had the time to stumble on a stupid good deal on a new Ford which I bought instead instead of just ordering my Colorado the way I wanted while I was at the dealer, becuase the GM sales person was adament I didn't want a 2WD with a locker and should pony up a couple grand more for a new 4WD on the lot.

IMO it's a matter of being respectful. Wearing the camo suit did not respect what GM was working very hard to orchestrate with the C8 at the bash. You are not part of the process that has lead up to the C8. Your role will start when the C8 is available for order. IMO, the camo suit was a stunt to draw attention to Rick. IMO your posts are not contributing to the C8 or the hard work of a lot of people whose jobs are on the line.

The C8 not an upgrade. The C8 is a radical change for GM. There is an awful lot at stake for GM and all of us who are Corvette fans and/or owners. IMO it's not too much of a stretch to say the C8 is make or break for the Corvette.

Rick, as much as I laugh with posts, you are not the center of the reveal, the C8 is. IMO you should top trying to be the center of attention and join the fans in the stands. Help build the anticipation for the car, not sympathy for Rick. Be ready to cheer loudly when the car goes public. Then provide excellent service to those who come to you for the opportunity to own a C8.

IMO, I would not invite out of concern you'd try to pull some kind of stunt to draw attention to yourself that would have the potential to derail the entire C8 introduction.

Just IMO

Bingo. While I searched for a ZR1 allocation over the late winter/early spring, it was amazing how many like this I encountered. Part of me was actually glad they didn’t have an allocation, just so I could get the hell out there.

its 100% why when we were looking for a SUV for my wife we never visited a Chevy (or any GM) dealer. Same for when I bought my truck. And our current play cars.

Based on the posts in this thread, and many others on this forum, I'm embarrassed to be a Corvette owner. I don't remember revolting attitudes like the ones displayed in this thread in the Corvette Community, 10 or 20 years ago. Rick-Many long-term members of the Corvette community know all the things you've done, and appreciate you.My advice, for what it's worth, is to stop posting about this subject in your videos, and especially on this forum. It's bad enough the way you've been treated by GM. You don't have to subject yourself to abuse from cowardly trolls hiding behind the internet. Your loyal customers will continue to buy from you and send you referrals. Ironically, the abuse you're receiving from trolls in this thread just gives you more attention, and might even earn you some sympathy business. Appreciate your help with my previous Corvette orders, and will be ordering my C8 from you as well. Corvette forum needs to add a thumbs down button so trolls and their abusive posts can be exposed for what they are.

Rick-
Many long-term members of the Corvette community know all the things you've done, and appreciate you.
My advice, for what it's worth, is to stop posting about this subject in your videos, and especially on this forum.

What's revolting here, exactly? The consensus is that this is a bad optic, and I agree with it, personally. Rick has posted three videos this year that have made me absolutely cringe - the one in this thread, the C8 meltdown, and calling out the buyer who couldn't complete the purchase. None of that looks good for him as a salesman or GM representative.

The tried and true adage is that when you've dug yourself a hole - STOP DIGGING. I cannot fathom how this video or the one before it could make GM change its mind or result in future favor from them.

Rick is extremely knowledgeable in THE Corvette and should stick to that. No one had lost respect for him prior to these videos. I doubt very seriously many care whether he is or is not physically at the reveal - only that he provide us with timely and accurate information as he gets it (as he's done in many excellent VLOGs before).

I say this not as a troll, but as someone who's had a VLOG for a little over a year now. I too have stepped in it with my employer and was worried about disappointing the fan base, but I didn't harp on it or try to talk badly about anyone. Instead, I took ownership and moved on. People respected me for it. Sure, I lost a few subscribers, but the end result was people I work with saying, "Kudos. I respect what you said and how you handled it."

I understand feeling slighted, but that's something you go home and tell your wife - not 15k potential customers. YMMV.

I see no trolling in this thread, folks are commenting on actions, current or previous, by Mr. Conti. Which by the way are publicly recorded. Just not everyone's cup of tea.

It's always funny to watch how the youtubers react to a negative response like we are seeing in this thread. They tend to get all defensive, act like the forum is full of ********, maybe even call the forum racists.

I would think a better approach is to take note about what your potential audience doesn't like about your videos (or your approach) and then change things up. I mean the goal is to gain subscribers and views to make money, so why not make use of the criticism to tweak your channel and potentially gain some new viewers? But I suppose it's easier to just get pissy and keep on doing what you are doing.

Or in this case it's easier to register a brand new, fake account to pretend you are someone defending you lol

I would imagine the entire reveal is over in what an hour or two? Is it really worth getting this worked up over such a small period of time? Life is a long road. There will be so many people there, you would probably need binoculars to see the car as the cover is pull off. I doubt it will be at a track, so you won't see the car blasting around turns and straightaways. I am as much of a car nut as anyone, but we have to keep things in perspective.

Here's the itinerary of the reveal.

1. An hour before the reveal, music starts playing from loud but low quality PA speakers. The doors are opened, and everyone streams in to take a seat in an auditorium or outdoor bleachers.
2. An MC starts building up the crowd.
3. The white sheet is removed from the C8. Everyone applauds.
4. A few executives give speeches. Thanks are given to team members.
5. Music starts back up, and everyone exits the venue.
6. A grid lock traffic jam ensues while everyone tries to leave.
7. The lights are turned off.

Personally, I would rather see GM move into the 21st century, and do an all day internet reveal, with lots of tech info, design history, and detailed documents that can be downloaded for reading later. I think they would get a lot more exposure doing that. Then put the reveal videos online for those who missed the live streaming. There should be hours of videos for people to watch.

You're 100% right.
I usually just read the comments on here and shake my head about how things have gone downhill in the Corvette community..
But, I felt obligated to stand up for a guy who's been very good to me and help me with my last three Corvette orders and out-of-state courtesy deliveries.

Next you'll accuse me of being Conti himself, right?

I'm going to now follow the same advice I publicly gave Rick, and ignore the trolls that are destroying the Corvette Community.

Seems to me that Rick ( who I do not know other than watching a few of his vlogs ) has let his u tube channel go to his head and inflate his ego.

The C8 revel is about the car the team that designed it and what we as the folk that will open our wallet need to know to push us to guys like Rick to purchase the C8.

His reward will come in the form of commission checks.

I can't watch his channel as it more self promotion than I care to stomach and too many slaps on his own back.

I promise if Rick retired tomorrow GM will sell.just as many C8 as if Rick works 7 days a week.

I suppose his ego is the reason he feels like he should be there at the reveal.

There are thousands of GM employees and vendors that have worked harder than Rick has to see the C8 from and idea to a car ready for sale to the public.

I can't think of one thing that a car salesman like Rick has contributed to the final design and reveal of the C8. It's us the customer base that GM want to know what we want that will make us purchase another Corvette.

Heck I bought 10 new Corvettes and I don't feel entitled to go .

How many has Rick written a check for ? Again if he did not sell the Corvette he has sold to his customers there are hundreds of other salesman that would have made the sale.

I am sure Rick has never been the determining factor that made any Corvette buyer make the decision to purchase a new Corvette.
