[PIC]C8 Rear Bumper

IMO the tail pipe placement, moving them to the sides in the rear, is all about the down force which the "diffuser'", now located between the pipes, can generate.
The new Porsche 911 RSR went to the extent of moving the tail pipes to the side of the car to enable a larger diffuser. That's not an option for a street car!
We'll see when the Vett Team starts releasing info about the aero.

I'm guessing the oversize recess license plate area is to also support overseas plates like in Europe?

We're here bitching about it (just like when the C7 came out) and the funny part is.......the "younger" guys on Reddit actually like it and "get it"
C7 had a lot of haters till they hit the lots, the C7 (and hell, the Lamborghini Huracan for that matter) both look like *** in pictures but are killers in person - I'm willing to bet the C8 will follow that.

I think that most of you are forgetting something: you will have to look down to see this rear end in person. It will look a lot different from that angle.
A lot of you are saying that it looks like a Camaro because out the taillights, but the Malibu and Blazer also have similar taillights. It’s called design language!
The only thing I’m not a fan of are the square tips. They look like something you’d buy from autozone and slap on a PT cruiser. Other than the tips, I think that it looks great. It’s aggressive and exotic, and far better than the 992 Carrera’s rear end.
I would imagine that the rear would gain a diffuser and larger vents on the high-performance models.

My suggestion is to realize the angle at which this photo is taken is creating a lot of the negative comments..
i like the design and have the ability to realize the angle is something we would never look from unless we were pretty much laying or sitting on the ground looking up.
you all or most of you loved chazcrons sketches and this is the same.
tough crowd...hehehe.

This rear however, I'm having an extremely difficult time even getting to neutral on. If I can't like the way the car looks, I won't be putting one in my garage... and I've been super eager to pick up a go fast version. And to those suggesting "Brand identity".. malarky... If GMs mantra is to make all their cars look equally like ****, then I'll move on. Hell, look at their new truck front end that's a botched abortion.... GMs design team is completely missing the mark repeatedly.
I've been biting my tongue on the rendered rears as they've looked bad... seeing this just confirms it. Here's hoping the rest of the car is a knockout.. but it's going to have to be a gorgeous to make up for this. Heres hoping!

It's too bad the Corvette community -- at least the community that is represented here on the forums -- is populated with so many annoying, whiny malcontents. I love Corvettes (always have) and I'm greatly excited by the upcoming mid engine C8, but it's a real shame that excitement can't be enjoyed here, due to all the a-holes who make it their mission to crap on every thread with negativity and contempt.

I suppose sneaking a photo out was inevitable, some folks can not keep a secret. If advised not to do so, lack of integrity may be in place here as well.
Still waiting for overall view, one shot alone should not determine yea or nay, at least on my part.

Having bought the prior 4 generations within first 12 months I predict you will soon grow to love the styling.
New generation Corvettes always look a little odd to me and then they don’t—they look great!
However, this time I am trying to see if I’ve grown up enough to not have to have one right away. We’ll see........

Agreed, I'm 31 and this is not doing it for me at all... They have definitely missed the mark lately on the new Silverado and that disaster of a Camaro refresh. I don't think a C8 will be on my radar between this rear and the renderings, but I'll wait until I see the entire car before writing it off.

The picture makes the bumper look flat (like a C5/C6), the actual rear fascia is VERY curved. Note the HORRIBLE rear spoiler follows the curve of the fascia.
