And not enough Corvette. All I see are generic Chevrolet styling cues and very little if any Corvette heritage, Big Mistake.

It’s too square. I don’t like the exhaust tips. Not very aggressive. I like the ferraris or Mclarens taillights much more. Should be a bit lower with exhaust tips like the 600lt or hurricane performante

Looks awesome to me. But I think I'm the demographic. I like C7 more than previous generations, I love the 6th gen camaro, and I really like mid engined exotics (just don't have the wallet for them).

To be fair its pretty tough to judge car design by photos alone, let alone a singular picture from an angle like that. Wish the internet would take a huge beat and wait before we've actually seen it, in person, before going all chicken little on the car.

It's also supposed to be a 60k car. Judging it against cars that cost 5 times that isn't really fair. It's a lot harder to do design work when you don't have the same materials and cost structure at the differing price points.

I haven't decide yet. I have to see the car in person.

I think no matter what GM does, people will be happy or disappointed. C4 wasn't curvy enough, C6 didn't have pop up lights, C7 no circular taillights. We've heard it all....

I don't even care if they depart from the "corvette heritage design cues"....

It's just bad. Lol. WAY too much going on there. I think subtle things that would improve it is if the bottom black piece didn't ride up the back so high + if the back top deck profile was more flat horizontally.. like the back of Ferraris. I am on my phone or I'd post a picture of what I mean.

Looking straight at the back of the car, the top center design lines make it look scrunched in the center like it's mad or something. I think it would have looked better if it was more directly horizontal like design cues. It'd simplify the back to be more clean lined...

I actually think the tail lights are cool and I like how the rear air flow exits are not directly next to the tail lights (an improvement vs c7)

Obviously I'm not a car designer... However I am a potential buyer, engineer, and corvette enthusiast

Im also in that demographic. I like the c7 more than previous generations, I like the camaro and I love mid engine exotics. I agree with you that itís though to judge a car by photos and Iím reserving judgment for when the car is revealed, but Iím not impressed so far. What makes those cars more expensive are better materials (interiors, carbon fiber etc...) the corvette doesnít compete on that, hence it being cheaper. But design is not directly related to cost.
GM has the means to make a cool design just like Mclaren, Lamborghini and Ferrari, maybe even more. Design isnít directly related to costs though. They could have pulled a much nicer design if they were bold enough. That being said, I feel a bit disappointed, but maybe all will change in 10 days. Fingers crossed.

The c7 rear looked like an afterthought. Classifying it as just "they didn't use circle tail lights" doesn't fully represent the issue.

The whole c7 is beautiful and then you get to the back and it makes no sense.... It's like they had a guy who was solely in charge of designing the back in a closed room and tacked it onto the final design.

I am 100% fine with the fact they got rid of the circle tail lights but the execution in the c7 rear design did not hit the mark IMO

And here, it seems the c8 will follow suit... Albeit maybe slightly less bad than the c7 rear.

And here all this time I thought it was a Chevrolet Corvette. If it didn't look like a Chevrolet you'd be saying it was a poser trying to be something it is not. It's a lose/lose proposition. I suggest you get over it. This sounds just like the round tail light and the pop up headlight issues.

IT'S OVER. Love it or leave it. It is not going to change.

c7's back makes no sense to you.

As a first time corvette buyer it was partly what drew me to the design of c7. I love the tail lights, all the creases, and the cooling paths that exit near the tail lights. Looks fantastic to me.

Well for what it's worth, I do praise how beautiful the rest of the c7 design is. I just have an issue personally with the rear. It's tolerable with the widebody + clear tail lights.

To each their own tho. They can't please everyone

On the positive side, using Camaro taillights will help keep the MSRP under $60k.

OP nailed it. Besides it being busy I like it... but when I think about it, it makes the car feel less special sharing obvious design cues with many rear ends in the Chevrolet lineup. Might make those owners feel cool and help the brand overall but I canít imagine it making corvette owners feel the same.

Honestly I donít have a problem with them abandoning Corvette traditions with a new or radical design, something very different. My problem is itís not different, or as special and unique as it should have been. The first ever mid engine Corvette is a big deal, it deserved better in this regard.

Im still as excited as hell for the car though... just feel like it was a missed opportunity by GM. Probably at the direction of some Chevy/GM product manager executive.

Its both Too Chevy and Too Ugly.

Overdone and over angular. Its like someone had a love affair with 7 year old Lambos.

Not necessarily. Didnít Chevy just immediately change the front end of the brand new Camaro due to the significant amount of negative feedback? The vast majority of comments so far all over the net have been about how ugly this rear end is.

Personally I am tired of rounded cars. Prefer sharper edges. Look at the classic designs of the 60s, fenders had sharp edges etc.
