People have been complaining that the interior has not been upscale enough for years. So they design an upscale interior, and now people complain that it is too fancy. They just can't win.
Personally, I think it looks great. I thought the steering wheel looked a bit odd at first, but then I realized it was designed for easy viewing of the center display. It also has an upscale look, which I appreciate. No one is going to mistake this steering wheel for a cheap one that came out of the GM parts bin. HVAC buttons are easy to access without leaning into the dash.
I say "Mission Accomplished".

From the pictures, the interior looks like an oldsmobile or cadillac (and that's NOT good).
Functionally, the 'handle' in the center console on the C7 will be missed. I dislike the look of the C8's wall of buttons... that *really* looks like an oldsmobile style to me. Just old and outdated.
If this is the interior, from the pictures, this absolutely kills it for me. I could tolerate the rear looking like a Camaro, it was starting to grow on me a bit. But the typical lousy interior on GM products, especially these C8 pictures makes it look like they missed the mark.
They look like an interior of a 2010 Oldsmobile trying to be modern instead of a 2020 Mid Engine Corvette.
Again, if the C8 is like the pictures here, I'm out. The C7's interior would be better than this.
I'll reserve actual judgement until we can see the real thing fully uncovered and from people that have seen it first hand.

I tend to prefer cars where the dash isnt angled toward the driver (especially with that "wall") because it creates a separation between the driver and passenger. It also makes the interior appear more cramped as compared to a car with a flat dashboard. Ferraris and Porsches tend to have unangled dashboards and a more open cockpit and they feel more airy. The "wall"/ski slope is the most offensive thing about this interior- it breaks up the whole interior. They could've put those climate control buttons flat on the center console or elsewhere (like on the touchscreen)- totally unnecessary. Just my opinion.
That being said, the design and materials look really nice. HOWEVER, it looks like the interior of a luxury sedan rather than a sports car. Doesn't seem sporty enough. See Ferrari interiors on how to do it properly.

My C4's wheel is definitely better looking than that.....whatever it is. Can you call it a wheel if it's misshapen like that? It looks like my 2-year-old daughter's attempts at drawing a circle.
I'm sure the top opening in the wheel is larger to see the big digital dash better, and it's flat on the bottom to give you some room. So there's (probably) a functional logic to it, but it's a wicked eyesore to me. Which stinks, because I love everything else I'm seeing.

We haven't seen good undistorted photos yet. Case in point, the steering wheel looked like it was bulging and bigger at the top, the actual pic from GM shows this isn't the case.

Burning Brakes
Not liking all the bright trim bits or the light gray leather. The lack of a shifter and clutch pedal looks strange. Also the brake pedal looks like it is just ugly black rubber like the one in my pickup truck, it doesn’t match the gas or died pedal.

Yep, looks just like a Caddy....
And that's quite a trick...copying a 2010 Oldsmobile, seeing as how Olds was shut down in 2004

The reviews I've read almost universally pan this interior compared to its rivals. Have you actually sat in this? The center buttons are a very cheap glossy plastic that don't have a good tactile feedback. Cheap chrome accents.
The center screen is too small and is criticized heavily for being laggy and not very touch responsive.
The steering wheel looks like it was designed for someone who is 90 years old. It just reeks 'old' and GM.
Take a look at a BMW M240i or a Porsche interior or even dare I say it a sporty Lexus.
Even the C7's interior is better. That was actually on the road to some good interior design by GM.

Of course I meant that the wheel's exterior profile is lumpy. Although I'm not really in love with any part of it anyway, but maybe it'll grow on me. I may just be behind the times.
In the meantime....I'll get the kiddo working and see what she can come up with as an alternative.
