Default C8 in Monterey for car week? On the track at Laguna Seca? (Weathertech raceway)🤞🏻

I’m hoping someone was thinking ahead... it’d be so cool to see a few C8’s do a few laps during the Monterey Historic's August 15-18, or a display in the Paddock... probably at Pebble Beach... I’d love to see it there 🤞🏻🙏🏻

Agree, it makes sense since you have car lovers from all over the world. It is a great venue to promote the C8

They did it as part of the C7 Reveal. It was great and would be again. But Corvette was the main Laguna Seca event sponsor that year as part of the 60th anniversary and the C7 Reveal. About 5 or 6 C7’s did multiple runs in tight formation at speed with professional drivers.

After Thursday, we'll start seeing the C8's pop up here and there.

For all manufacturers of mid engine cars, including GM, August in Monterrey is the largest mid engine sports car event in the world! The unmitigated fixture of Monterrey Classic Car Week. Multiple mid engine cars from all over the globe are there. It would be unforgivable, and evidence of brain death, for GM to miss this! It culminates August 18 this year with the Concours d'Elegance. No one forgets that the C7 was displayed there for all of the press to drive? GM had a big display in Marina, California with an autocross track for test drives. This is a "not to be missed" event for GM.

Hoping to see one at the GM display for the Woodward Cruise in August. Seems like the perfect hometown reveal venue to me.

The C8 at Monterrey is no-brainer.
I would put some serious dough down on that one....

Well, I’ll be camping there on the terrace, track view in my Shinoda designed motorhome, with my ‘64 roadster ... if they need some “previous generation” Vettes to do a few laps with them. 🙏🏻🤞🏻

If the C8 is not on display in August, no doubt September for IMSA.

GAWD I cannot stand what Monterrey has become. What used to be a gathering of gearheads has become one giant marketing scheme.

$900 a night for a Motel 6 in Salinas? Forget it.

What I do coming from Oregon is get a place far enough away where I won't get gouged and just drive in early in the day.

Last time we drove up Highway 1 to the Laguna Seca event was a couple years ago and we also did it two years before that. Both times were in a caravan of 4-6 sports car couples. Saw many Corvettes on the road heading up both times. Saw many other nice cars and sports cars doing the same.

But, on the first trip we only saw one ME car, a Ferrari, making that drive up. On the second trip we only saw two MEs on the road coming North and none going back South. As someone said, there were a lot of ME cars up at Laguna Seca, but most were from the Bay Area or were trucked up from SoCal and other areas, while almost all of the Corvettes there were driven from all over.

So, just a question from those observations and chats that I had with a number of ME owners who trucked them up. Is the day of Corvette caravans to major automotive events about to cut way back or will C8 owners blaze a new trail in the ME world and drive 200-400+ miles to such week long events at Laguna Seca and Pebble Beach with the spouse and ship their clothes, tennis rackets, helmets, and golf clubs by FEDEX? Or, will they drive up in their luxo sedans and SUVs and truck their C8 instead?

I would only say that driving up on Highway 1 with a group of friends is one of the truly great aspects of any such trips, especially in a sports car.

Consentino11, that's a somewhat dated post with no confirmation, how does one communicate with Austin Myers?

I had called the Corvette Concierge phone number right after the reveal. They made me an appointment for Concierge to call me on August 2nd. I saw the car at Petersen Auto Museum on 7/28 and asked the guys there. They told me that two C8’s were planned for the historic races. Then when Austin called me on the 2nd, he didn’t have enough information. He promised to research for me. He then emailed me August 5th that email.

How can that be dated, as in old, material? Today is the 8th; the post was the 5th, and the event date is 15-18 of the same month! Seems current to me. And since I may go, maybe I'll get to see the cars.
