Default Mirrors

If the C8 had optional power folding outside mirrors that would be just swell.

I once thought folding mirrors was a great feature on a vehicle.
Being able fit in tight spaces seemed like a great idea.
My Grand Cherokee has a function where the mirrors fold automatically when leaving the vehicle.

Then someone smacked the side of the front door of my GC in a parking lot.
After a stay at the body shop and 800 bucks later it occurred to me the mirrors might have saved me if they had been extended.
I no longer set the mirrors to fold.

OTOH, folding mirrors might be great for parking in someone's garage.
OTOH, scrapes to the mirrors would be helluva lot better than scrapping a body panel.
Pick your poison...

The long stems on the C8 mirror more than likely will be fixed, while the actual mirror housing will fold.

The passenger mirror sticks out more than the driver mirror and as mention above are on long stems. I don't see the folding feature adding any significant benefit unless the stems somehow bend in. The folding feature is just one more thing that potentially will cause problems or break.

My history with and without folding mirrors.
1. I also have a Grand Cherokee. It has folding mirrors. The previous GC didn't and my wife literally tore the mirror off backing out of the garage.
2. I hit the mirror on my C7 during a momentary lapse of attention and scraped the paint off of it. I did it pulling INTO the garage. Do you have any idea how hard it is for me to admit that? LOL!

Ha!
I did the same thing but didn't scrape any paint or damage it any way!

My F-type has folding mirrors. I love them since my garage width tolerance is slim to none

I can see how they would be helpful in your own garage but otherwise worthless. The LAST thing you want to do is SQUEEZE your Corvette into a parking spot so some yahoo teenager in his 92 Ford Taurus can casually rail his door into your Corvette coming out of the store.

FACT - folks don't care about other people's property like they use to. Folding mirrors are a waste inmo.

Man, ain't that the truth.
It's sickening how society has devolved to this.
RESPECT is no longer taught by parents these days.
It's all about fncking over the OTHER guy.
