If you still decide to get the C8 after today's reveal...DRIVE YOUR C8!!!
Don't have it be a garage queen like the Ford GT! Show it off! You worked hard for the money and you can't take it with you!! If you have the funds to pull off the C8, surely you are doing something right in life so don't worry about the depreciation and you'll get paid in so many more ways
Ford GT vs C8 is apples to oranges, I know I know but I'm so glad GM isn't doing that "application to buy" like Ford's doing with the GT. What a time to be alive!! You get a C8...you get a C8...you get a C8...EVERYBODY gets a C8!!
And hopefully no first year model issues...knock on wood

And OP that's insanity! What's next, parking with everyone else in parking lots and washing it with . . . . water!
Seriously though, some of us don't have a choice. I work all week. Sunday is usually occupied by the family with the kids. So I drive mine once or twice a month but when I do I drive the heck out of it!

I'm 74 years old, have a bunch of health problems, and am on the fence about the C-8. I can certainly afford the ride, however, getting in and out of the C-8 will have a large impact on my decision. I own a C-5 and a C-7, and have owned Vettes since 1969. Why not buy one, and enjoy that part of my life that I still have. I couldn't give a rat's *** about depreciation. My only other concern would be which car I get rid of, I don't have the garage space for another Vette. FWIW, the C-5 is easier to get in and out of, than the C-7.

Put 57K on a 2014 C7.. plan to do way more in this one. It will be the most expensive car I've every purchased and my first brand new car. Not paying all this money to let it sit.

Melting Slicks
If a Corvette is a pleasure car, why on Earth would you feel compelled to drive it in bad weather? That's what a beater car is for. Some people out there buy a Corvette as their primary car, which I personally feel is not safe, nor is what a high-end sports car should be used for.
The car will physically be OK in heavy rain and snow. It will not melt if it gets wet. The Corvette is tested in those conditions, but the car is not designed for it. Because of its wide tires with track-focused tread pattern, the car hydroplanes much easier than a regular passenger car, SUV, or truck. If you're in an accident (which occur much more often in bad weather) you are in a much smaller car than the other cars around you, which makes you less safe.
Sorry, doesn't make sense to me. But I hope you enjoy it yourself. Just don't hydroplane into me when you drive your Corvette in bad weather.

Just don't hydroplane into me when you drive your Corvette in bad weather. Say WHAT ??? Rain? Shoot I been caught in a couple snow storms with my C-5 . These cars are quite capable when driven sensibly in bad weather conditions . I also been in some heavy downpours and the car was steady and surprisingly leak free (it's a vert)
. Get over it.

So, like I said, go ahead and enjoy driving your Corvette in bad weather. Just don't hydroplane into me when you do it.

Nope. I owned a C5 from 2001 to 2013. It hydroplaned badly. Not sure what car you were driving. It was a convertible, and it also leaked through the driver-side window in the rain. The C5 Corvette is certainly "capable" in the rain, meaning that it was capable of driving in the rain, but once again, it was not designed to drive in bad weather. Just like a SUV is capable of driving on a track, but certainly not designed to do that.

I've put over 50,000 miles on every Corvette I've owned... they're fine in all types of weather. The later C5s and up have very solid active handling/TCS systems as well.

I was able to get one of the first C7 verts from the factory and drove it cross country the first week, even in winter. Put 5K on it in two weeks. I have pics of it in Missouri covered in snow the day after picking it up.
The great thing about these cars is people do drive them. Porsche also as well as McLaren. Ferrari and Lambo much less.
The latest Ford GT Is a PR stunt for the elitists. No thanks.

Yve drives her 700whp C7Z M7 car daily here in Tampa where rain storms come out of nowhere and drop an inch or more in 30 mins. No issues with hydroplaning or anything else. Summer tires and traction control at all times. She has put 20k a year on her car

Yep. The only time either of the two C5s I hydroplaned was when the tires were worn and needed to be replaced. Just don’t drive like an idiot and it is no issue.

Only drive my ‘vettes a few hundred miles a year, my prerogative, my money, I don’t tell anyone what to do with theirs, I like my ‘vettes with low miles.

And if you want to go buy a Subaru, then go for it. But saying that I said to do any such thing, even in jest, is a red herring that proves your bad intent. Please put me back on your block list. I like that concept so much more than interacting with a bad actor like you.

I live in NY plan to fly into Kentucky to pick it up and drive it home. At the 500 mile mark I will change the oil and start hitting drag strips. Zig/Zaging my way back to long island. Should have at least 3k miles by the time it hits my driveway.
