C8 is Likely Lightweight!
According to the site that just leaked the pics, the C8 Z51 will do 0-60 in under 3 seconds and has 495 HP...
The C7 Z06 took 2.9 seconds and has 650 HP. That means the C8 is likely a light car. Finally!

What is more likely is that it enjoys more advantageous gear ratios with the rear diff and DCT (along with fast shifts), and superior ability relative to the C7 to put the power to the ground with more weight over the driven wheels and better weight transfer on launch.
I doubt it lighter than 3,300 lbs, and possible a tad heavier.
All about gearing, shifting, and better ability of the ME to hook up off the line.

I bet that 495 isn’t the final number.

Assuming it does around 2.95s 0-60, that's impressive. With all of the tech and nice features, I don't think it can weigh any less than 3300lb. The engine on the rear wheels, gear ratios and the DCT is making up for much of the difference. From 3.7 sec in the C7 to under 3 sec with essentially the same engine is a big time move.

Don't forget newer generation meat on the wheels. Something even stickier than today's Cup tires, I'll bet; that would also go along with the Z51 option.

Drifting
I'm taken aback by how many people think the base C8 will be a 3 second flat car.
Unless the price hits 6 figures, for a BASE car, that's setting the bar awefully high for the Z and ZR

I hope rather than do 955 which would probably be par for what they've jumped historically for the ZR1 that it just says "f**k it" and goes for 1000 for bragging rights. I realize I'm getting way ahead of myself as thats probably 3 years off haha, but its always fun to dream.
