It’s good for $60k, but...
First off, I’m buying one. I’ll get that out of the way. It’s a fine design and one hell of a value.
But I’m getting tired of Corvettes always just being the solid value play.
That exterior is fine for 60-80k but why couldn’t they have made it world class? I know they limited themselves, aesthetically, with the excessive rear storage, but surely they could’ve done more. How much more could an objectively better design cost? And don’t give me the design is subjective BS, either. Good design is good design. It’s pretty much unanimous.
Again, don’t get me wrong, the design is fine and I look forward to looking back at mine when I park it - but it certainly leaves some to be desired and I can’t help but wonder what could have been.
Im excited to see what the coach builders bring us in the years, I’m sure we’ll get at least a handful.
I wonder if we’ll ever see the rejected design submissions?

You really think it’s a design masterpiece? Don’t lie to yourself.
Its a solid 8/10. Again, nothing wrong with that. But it’s not winning any Beauty Contests.
It is one hell of an engineering/packaging feat, though.

This was always the way it was going to be...
The car HAS TO BE ABLE TO BE MASS PRODUCED BY LINE WORKERS
If you introduced more you're cutting production time
Ill be amazed if
A- the car comes out like this on the end because of the prodiction issues
B- the lrice doesn't have huge increase like 3 or 4k by then end of the run.. maybe more..
They had to "dumb it down" to make it work. Great job.. just not digging the nose....at all...rest i Love for an ME design.

Initially I was worried seeing the renderings, I'm in love with the car. Especially in white. To me there is a ton of potential for the other platforms, Widebody, splitters, active aero etc etc. it's all opinion of course but I'm pumped with the design and am satisfied

Melting Slicks
It would be 10/10 if there wasn’t such a big bulge on the door and if the rear end was better. It needs Ferrari-like round tail lights. Exterior 7/10. Interior 10/10 as I’m sure performance will be.

It's a compelling package, just like Corvettes have always been. It's true to the Corvette value proposition.
I just wish they tried to make something actually beautiful. Corvette hasn't had a true, uncontested knockout since the 60's. I guess I was naive for thinking this one would be any different. Really thought they'd use the new platform as an excuse to swing for the fences.
I never got the urge to buy a C7, this one I'll be buying. So it's a win in that sense. I guess I wish I was buying it because of the way it made me feel when I look at it, vs. the way it makes me feel when compared to other vehicles I can afford.

It always was and will always be, a matter of opinion. I think Chevy hit a home run and would love to have the C8 in my garage. But as always some will not like it.

I need to see it in person before I can truly rate it. The base C8 was always going to be about value for your buck first, it's been that way for every Corvette. I like the more exotic profile and classier interior. Is it the most beautiful car I've ever seen? No, that's reserved for the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio. But the C8 is a solid 9/10 in my book. If they somehow managed to squeeze a manual option in there and gave it the old round taillights, it'd be a solid 10/10 from me.

The rear end styling for sure. I'm okay with the front even though it looks a little C6 derivative.
Something like this would've been fine if they were trying to tie the Corvette heritage into the design. It looks like it would satisfy their luggage requirements, too.
I would've been just as happy with a beautiful, clean sheet design that didn't resemble any past Vettes or Camaros, as well. I doubt anyone is looking at the finalized rear for the first time and thinking it's a future classic (based of design merit, alone).
Edit: added C8 rear for quick comparison.
