They took a huge risk with this change and we don't see a lot of that these days.

Couldn't agree more. Tadge and many others took a huge risk on this. My impression so far is they will have a great first year.

2020 C8 of the Year Finalist - Unmodified
So, the real thanks need to go back to 2009 where politicians tried to kill the Vette entirely. The C7 was a stop gap to today's C8
We are lucky there was a C7 at all because it was on the chopping block in the age of "Volt mania"
The people inside GM who fought to keep the brand alive are the real heroes.

You are correct. GM is "betting the farm" on the mid-engine platform. Kudos to them....I hope the C8 is a HUGE success.

This launch reminds me of the original NSX. A car that is going to flip the entire sports car market on its head.
Before the NSX there were a lot of great mid engine sports cars but reliability and build quality was an absolute joke. Then the NSX came alonng and all of the sudden every manufacturer had to tighten their stuff up. Some still aren't great today but leaps and bounds better than before the NSX.
The Corvette is going to drive down costs. For years manufacturers have been able to make an entry level price point of $200k in this segment. Now the C6 Corvette is going to come in at an entry point almost 25% of that figure with almost equal performance and features and when they release the Z06 it will have equal if not better performance for half the price. This car has the potential to not only shake up the market but completely destroy companies.

Had they made the same mistake Dodge did with the Viper and priced it at $150k I would see an issue, but entering in under $60k I don't think they will have an issue selling these cars. They are priced low enough to steal market share from the Pony Car segment. They perform well enough and are well enough equipped to steal market share from Porsche, Ferrari, Lamborghini, and McLaren while still having enough luggage space to attract buyers in the Gran Touring market. The C6 and C7 weren't going to attract anyone who wasn't interested in a Corvette already, the C8 changes that narrative completely. People who didn't have Corvette on their radar before will now and that's a BIG DEAL!!!

There is a God Mind you. Thank you General Motors. Zora, your dream came a little late but we now have a mid engine Corvette.

I like it but where are my golf clubs going to go? I can fit two sets in my C7 or one set AND my push cart. That is one if the great features of the C7. 15 cubic feet of cargo!

Tadge took no risk. Someone way above him put their career on the line for the ME and styling decisions. I think that risk will pay off handsomely for all, but was a huge risk..... what 5-6 years ago?

Personally, I think GM hit it just right. Going mid-engine is a huge undertaking, and an even bigger risk. Yet, just look at the overall response here. A few are saying they didn't go far enough, a few are saying they went too far, but most seem to be enthusiastic about the car. In the world of mass production sports cars, that's the target.
But regardless, to be able to get this type of driving experience for anywhere near 60K, that's good stuff. For that, I'll look past the stuff I don't like. There's just too much to like.
