Kind of reminds me of the Tesla "fire issue." You remember that a couple of Teslas have caught fire over the last few years, much to the consternation of the press.
How may Teslas caught fire last year? Three
How many gas cars caught fire last year? Thousands
Conclusion: Teslas catch on fire.
There has never been a C8 engine fire and you are worried about it? Good Lord, God help us. You better stay indoors. Oh, wait! Thousands of houses caught fire last year. Leave while you still can!

The Fiero was conceived probably in the late 70's, or the very latest, early 80's, which is probably the dark ages of the auto industry. With a combination of a weak economy but high inflation and a lot of new regulations being heaped on the industry, it's surprising that any kind of sports car made it to production.
First model year cars aren't all that much of a problem since computer aided design came into fashion in the late 80s early 90s. It is much easier to make sure parts work together as they should when the system is capable of making sure the dimensions of mating parts designed by different people are correct. Also CAD provides the ability to simulate how parts will work together and whether they are strong enough for the application. Those things alone pretty much eliminate many of the previous first year problems. These tools also help design the manufacturing tooling required to assemble a product so the quality of those parts is similarly enhanced. Industry isn't to the point of achieving the holy grail of a one pass design but they are much closer now than 35 years ago.
Yes I worry about this so much that I can't sleep at night! on top of that I own a Galaxy S10 plus phone(remember this?)! I am doomed to go down in a blaze of glory!
