Default Is the C8 really a Corvette?

I love the looks of the new C8 a really gorgeous car . GM really aimed hard against the Italian super cars obviously with the mid engine.
In the unveiling they show us the evolution for all eight generation of the car but is it really an evolution is the new car really belong to the Corvette family?
What do you guys think?

No, because it does not have an inline-6 like the original corvette.

This is a dumb thread.

GM designed it. GM built it. GM labeled it a Corvette. And now you're going to come along and say, "It isn't really a Corvette!"????? WTF is it, then? Do you have naming rights on it?

Yes, in 55 came a v8, 63 gave us independent rear suspension and a hardtop option, 68 changed the shape radically, etc etc so now we have a new innovation the ME.

Yes it it is the new direction for corvette.

I would argue that other than some design ques like the double tail lights if you had removed the logos from the back or and front , you could never tell that this is a corvette. There is very little common between this car an any other generation corvettes

Enzo only wanted front engine V12's but gave in for performance and went to ME. I guess all those ME Ferrari's aren't Ferrari's either. Thread fail.

I think I could tell from the front that it is a Corvette. The back certainly is Chevrolet (perhaps they went a bit overboard on that).

I think the front of the car still has many elements of a Corvette. I don’t have a problem with GM doing something new and different from the ground up. Kudos to them for trying.

Look at the 6th gen Camaro. GM tried way to hard to appeal to Gen5 owners and never addressed the **** poor visibility and poor exterior design choices that dated the car the day it hit the lot. And now look at sales. The 5th gen buyers didn’t buy them because, well the 6th gen looked too much like the 5th gen. And the people who didn’t buy a 5th gen due to poor visibility and design passed. It’s a shame because the 6th gen Camaro is an awesome car to drive but if the rumors are true the Camaro will be shelved soon.

Hey, why don't you say why you think that way instead of passing that kind of negative judgment on someone else you really don't know?
