Default There may not be a C6/7 style widebody

EDIT - Little birdie confirms wide body coming. Birdie has been right about everything.

The Z06 May have different bumpers and side scoop and active aero etc, but not sure how much wider they can go over the standard car before narrow garages and trailers present issue. Car is 2.2”’wider than a C7 Stingray. Now it does say “overall width” so if that’s mirror tip to mirror tip then this post is moot.

The official order guide (see sticky above), under "Specifications", states "Body width, without mirrors" ... "76.1".

The saving grace here is that the 2LT/3LT has folding mirrors. (Edit: MOTORIZED folding mirrors) For a lot of people this may seem like an unnecessary point, but in my garage it is crucial. Not only do I have a slanted approach to the third garage, but garage furniture (Gladiator) infringes on the space as well. I already pull in my driver's mirror manually. With folding mirrors in the C8 I think I will be Okay, but it will still be tight fit.

Even the 1LT has folding mirrors, but they're manual. Only the 2LT/3LT have the motorized folding mirrors. Yes, without folding mirrors, the C8 would cause garage parking issues for some owners.

Yes, I should have said MOTORIZED folding mirrors to save you the pedantry. Like I said, I already pull in the driver's side MANUALLY. The prospect of getting out of the car, going over to the passenger side, and also folding THAT mirror in manually is not appealing, especially in the rain. This new MOTORIZED system makes that task palatable and will save a lot of grief. It's a welcome addition.

There’s plenty of things they can do for the C8Z...

Don’t know why anyone would want the C8 any wider. Getting too big as is.

THe c8 is already considered a wide body...

how wide should the wide body c8 go?

maybe different ways to showcase a higher performance model will be even better looking?

What we need to know is if the rear tire offset can be changed enough to allow for 40mm wider tires or if the car needs widen. I would think that 345's would be the largest tire they would use.

However, I would think that AWD would be an alternative to help with traction and allow the car to maintain the same width. The tunnel looks big enough to fit a driveshaft or skip that and put electric motors up front.

People said this when the C7 came out, there will be a widebody version 100%, and as usual it’s going to make the base model look bland.

See the motorized mirrors in action at 2:34

Hopefully there is a manual override mode to fold/unfold them.

I would expect changes to the front/back of the car related to areo for the performance versions. Most exotic cars do the same thing, they don't really get wider they just get a little different look along with suspension and engine performance gains. I can see the Z06, ZR1 doing the same thing.

A couple months before the reveal I got a chance to talk to someone on the Corvette development team while out at a non-automotive place. Saw his shirt with “Corvette Racing” on it and just thought he owned or liked Vettes. We got to talking and it turned out he was on the team developing manufacturing processes for it. He looked really excited about it. I told him I knew he couldn’t say much but did ask if he thought there might be a wide body version in the future. He didn’t say too much. But did kinda semi-confirm that there “could” be a hipo model in a couple of years and that it “could” be 5-6” wider then the regular C8. So I kinda took it that a WB is in the works (i.e. Z06, GS and ZR1). Just thought I’d pass that along for those who might be interested.

I believe that it may be wider I was looking at some of the ruff sketches and in the first pic you can see the stingray and in the second and third pic that may be the z06 or zr1

It really doesn't matter to me if they make it wider or not as long as the higher hp versions look distinctive/more aggressive.

I love the wide body look of my GS (77.4”). I can be satisfied with the new Stingray width.

I hate that the interior keeps getting smaller. I'm 6'3" tall and weigh 220. C7 is tight. C8 might be too tight. My racetech seats won't be able to fit for sure.
