I will be attending the C8 Design Seminar this Saturday at the Concourse D’Elegance in Plymouth, MI and this will be one of my question to the design team as to “why” is this a dealer only installed option as I too would prefer NCM delivery.

If I don’t get a clear answer at the seminar, then I will ask directly to the Chevy Teams as the NCM 25th Anniversary event in August.

Please twist someone's arm to get them to put the high wing on at the Museum.. My last two C7's I regretted not doing the delivery.. So I told the wife we are doing it this time.... AND of course this issue jumps up.. Really!! LOL I want the wing damn it and I want to pick it up at the Museum!!

Big con - dealer body tech will have to yank the rear bumper off the car as it’s a dealer installed option only. I assume the C8 will be like the 7 with the rear fascia snapped on where you have to just pull and hope nothing breaks.

They probably can not fit the car on a transport truck with the wing in place. And it's too large to fit inside for transport when the C8 ships as well.

If the high wing is a dealer installed option then I will order mine as a separate assecery (reason all the same mounting points I can do it at home and have both wings since z51 comes with fin) hopefully GM doesn't read this and puts a stop to my planes by charging a lot more as assesory. ? If you order when ordering the z51 does the car come without the fin and then the wing gets installed at dealer.

I’d bet it depends on how you order the car. A Z51 will get the Z51 wing due to modern mass production. The high wing will be a direct swap. If you order a base car you’ll have to drill.

I will order the Z51 and will be getting both high wing and spoiler. I was wondering if by ordering separate if it cost more than ordering it when I buy the car, which process could net me both. thumbs:

The high wing looks great on this car, however to keep the price in check and convenience of storing the removable roof panel.....I will stick with the standard Z51 spoiler.

I very much prefer the high wing. I would also suggest the downforce is similar to the standard Z51 spoiler. I believe GM will not let you get Z51 without the spoiler given the aerodynamic impact on the Z51 package... however, they will let you get the high wing. Regardless, it's not so high that it would impede getting stuff in the back and makes the car look WAY more aggressive IMO.

This, this and this. My back, in particular, agrees with #2. And no, I’m not an old guy.

I like the high wing as well and hope it's as functional as the Z51 if not more so. What bugs me a bit is that it's color limited. You can only have it body-colored with Torch Red, Black, White, and the darker Gray color. All the rest of them require you to do a Carbon Flash wing.

IMO it does look better and I'd order with whatever aero package it comes with. To Each Their Own!
Actually it was one of the Chevy engineers, Tadge or the other guy, that said the wing did produce 400 pounds of down force at 180 MPH--I cannot remember where I read or saw that yesterday. Very useful (tongue firmly in cheek)--even on the track I wonder how many non-professionals will hit 180 mph.

I heard 400 lbs as well. Think it was Tadge. Just guessing that must require the high wing. Don’t think the 07 C7 aero package generates that much with the high drag rear spoiler extensions and the center clear wickerbill.

Never did see numbers for the ZR1 high wing. In general high wings get further out of the boundary layer and can be set at an angle to produce high downforce with less drag than “sticking a barn door off the back edge!”

Maybe the Z06 and GS high wing will have F1 DRS!

The high wing will produce more down force. If you build one on the website, you have to get more aero automatically added on the sides and front. The standard wing has downforce in the center and straight through on the sides, this wing will have downforce across the entire wing. The higher wing is up into the air more that will pull more air as well.

To me I think all 3 options look great. This car looks like a home run to me. It instantly made the c7 look old.

What's the benefit of doing a museum delivery option? Does it offer a cheaper price for the same car? I was gonna do it for my c7 but it's too far for me.

It's more expensive as you pay the same transportation fee (~$1000) as if it was being shipped to San Diego! Contractually it's a fixed price delivered anywhere, same to the Museum! Then you pay the Museum Delivery Fee also ~$1000! You get to visit the plant and museum, which you can do anytime.
