Default Heat in the cockpit

Anyone have concerns of the heat from the engine coming into the cockpit? Seems to me it will get hot with just a glass panel separating the two.

Glass is a pretty decent insulator.

I’ve owned a few mid engined sports cars and it’s not an issue. Most of the heat will either flow through rear bumper or rise up through the vents on the lid.

As elitex says, won't be an issue. I've had mid-engined cars and it was never a concern.

Can’t be any worse than the tunnel heat from a C6Z...

+1; 20 years driving Porsche ME cars and engine heat in the passenger compartment has never been an issue.

No concern, but your trunk will get a bit warm.

In addition to the better physics of mid-engine versus front-engine, one of Zora Duntov's additional points on mid-engine was that the heat exhausts at speed behind the driver instead of in front of the driver.

with all of them! No more heat in the cabin (like we have now) will be welcomed!

What if the C8 was front-Engine? Just imagine all that heat with the engine right up against your feet! You could probably burn your feet off!

Appears unanimous, no more heat than a front engine. Thanks for the answers as I have never owned a mid-engine car.

Not to mention the hot exhaust running under the floor. Oh no!

(Well that was actually a problem in the Viper lol)

I'm sure they didn't test for or account for this in the last 5 years of development.

As was mentioned, the rear glass is 9mm thick. Though that was mainly to block the noise from the engine accessories and belt right behind the firewall.

If anything, I think it'll be better than the C7 in that regard. No hot exhaust pipes running down the center tunnel, engine heat can vent up through the rear hatch, and the rear storage area isn't directly connected to the cabin.

Mine either ('83 308). The trunk, such as it was, got rather hot. There was some engine noise, but that was actually good.

Don't worry: carbon monoxide poisoning will dull your senses and you won't feel the heat.
