How hard is it? Keep gas pedal pressed to floor on straight away or on appropriate track and go until the Speedo no longer goes up.
GM is lying.

THe ford mustang gt500 top speed was limited to 180 mph. Could it be the dual clutch has a speed limit issue?
i have no idea and quite frankly dont really care. My present 2008 c6 z51 corvette has a top speed of 190 mph from the factory and i really havent gone much beyond 150 mph...my corvettes before that had a factory top speed of 168 (z06) and 171 in a c5 z51 coupe..
i never took them above 150 either...
maybe its just me but above 150 is pretty dam fast...
if the c8 s limit is 180 then its the dct transmission or the legal department...
the greenies are out in full force and I wouldnt be surprised if the pr department said chill out announcing top speed so the public doesnt go insane ...
probably more that gm wants to be seen as a good citizen than a limit on the car itself...

I suspect it's less than the C7 ZR1 & Z06, but still impressive. (practically) none of ever even come close to top speed, so who cares ( I've exceeded 150 several times, that's plenty for me )

I've found that if the car can get to that high speed quickly it was a heck of a lot safer than a slower car getting to a lesser speed but taking longer as time and distance was usually the real worry. Like getting to 150 in an LT1 C4 vs 155 in the C7Z. The C4 was started to sketch me out.. the C7Z it was over before it began lol. And it went faster.

I went 138 in my 84. Ran out of gear as the 4 speed section is only 1:1 and with a 3.08 and ~4400 rpm redline it had nothing left. Overdrive kicks out at wot for the nash unit too. If I had a 5th gear and it wasn't 110 out I probably could have gotten well into the 150s. Stopped pulling hard around 130 though but it had no breath left lol. This was on a closed track...
Unless theres a lot of drag it should be in the 180s I'd guess.

The time to get there has a lot to do with it. My SC'd Z51 C7 with meth would hit 150 in the time a stock car took to get to 100. Usually at 140+ before you realize how fast you really are going.

Other than the C7 ZR1, top speed hasn't been posted in any of the C7 sales brochures. I suspect with all the ground effects on the C7's it is less than the C6 models (which did post top speed for various models) is the reason why. Would be nice if they post top speed on the C8.

GM is probably lying for a reason...

Gotta run these cars, guys. Here with my C6Z has 700+ miles above 150 and only been over 200 twice, but over 180 probably a dozen times.
Most of the 700 miles above 150 was on cruise control - which only works right to 157. Above that and it will just keep climbing. The C7s fixed that problem.
The aero on the C8 will probably be good and the Cd not so bad so base Z51 probably right around 190, which is where the base C6 was..
