Nah... article ignores other options shown in the same leaked doc.... Z06 will get the NA LT6, IMO, which will be somewhere around or just north of 600hp... Z06 is going back to it NA roots.... the 800+ hp TT option will be the ZR1.
‘least that’s where my bets are placed....
No way it’s going NA with 600 horses. Not happening.

Okay, well if we are tossing out the possibility of the LT6 referenced in the supposed leaked engines document, then I presume the references to any LT7 in the same doc should be tossed out too.
I always laugh at the "Who Needs All That Power" comments...
I see...
4,500+ sq ft houses with 2 people living in them.
$3k laptops to browse the internet and corvette forum and yahoo email.
100'+ yachts and 2,000 hp racing boats
$500k Ford GT's with a V6...
$40k Mustangs, Camaros and Challengers with pretty much the same horsepower as the base C8.
People jumping off the side of a cliff on a rubber band
People lined up for an hour or more to go on some crazy roller coaster
People flying over the beach on a lawn chair and a small gas motor and fan
Yes... No one absolutely needs and 800hp corvette or even a 500hp corvette but that's not the craziest thing out there...
I'll buy the 800 hp Z06 especially if it's around $85k...
Absolutely correct. I'm just happy I live in the part of the world that affords me those options and opportunities. I'm of the mindset that as long as people's choices do not adversely affect others, they should "tickle their fancy" in whatever endeavor they choose and not be judged for it.
I can't wait to see what they finally come up with. If I like the engine in the z06 I'll go for that and if not, well then I get a GS and save some $$. Hell if the z51 is sturdy enough for frequent track duty I may just get one of those used and save even more $$, but definitely plan on waiting to see what GM comes up with for the z06.

When that leaked engine document came out, I was really excited at the prospect of a 600hp NA motor for an up model corvette. The more I think about it though, the less likely it seems. I can't imagine an engine like that fitting into their emissions and fuel mileage plans.
This article only quotes information from yet another magazine, Automobile, with information based on rumor and innuendo. No facts, fake news.
I’m sorry, but of late the term “fake news” has increasingly become synonymous with truth. Perhaps that is because the term “fake news” is most often heard when someone is attempting to dispel truth.

Yeah, for sure, no fake news, its all true! CNN never lies, that's why their ratings have fallen out of bed. Get real.
OK the C7 Z06 had about 650 HP and it was waaaay too much car for a lot of people. Now the C8 is going to have about 800?
What gives? It would scare the average driver with all of that power!!!

I like the way you think. I have a very reliable 600 HP N/A LS7 in my 08 C6Z. It will be a sinch to have a 600 HP LT2 and a M6 in a 2020 C8. The Xaxle already exists and the new heads and port injected plenum and ecm is easy to make. Loose the DI and vari cam. A crate LS3 or a LS7 will do also. Watch the aftermarket get hold of that LT2.
There is a huge market for such a machine. Those who are not exited about this prospect, I don't want to know you unless you race professionally. Even then, you will need a sequential Xaxle, like the C8R has.
The 495hp base is plenty fast enough for the street.
800hp is ridiculous and unusable unless you're just doing 1/4 mile runs at the dragstrip, or timed laps on a track.
I could see why, if you had money to burn, you would still want a C8 Z06. But it's overkill in 99.9% of situations.
Lameeeee. The salesman at Kerbeck tried to tell me that the C7 GS would be suitable for my needs. Thankfully I'm stubborn. I got a Z06 and have absolutely no regrets. There is a noticeable difference at 50+ mph with the extra hp.
People who say the z06 doesn't have its merits on the street have never owned one
I'm looking forward to getting a c8 z06 in the future!
I'm sure its been said but I'd love for the 600hp LT6 to go into a Grand Sport model with the TT reserved for the Z06 then electrification for the ZR1. Creating reasonable model gaps can improve the profitability. Take a look at the Mopar boys and their never-ending variation in models. They have a package to suit all levels of buyer from the $25k base car to nearly $100k for a Hellcat Redeye with all the fixings.

I'm not sure they can get 600HP+ naturally aspirated (I would love to be wrong on this!), but I seriously doubt 800HP for the Z06.
800 / 700 is a good start, add a couple of electric motors for the Z07 Package and you are probably at 1,000 / 900,,, the ZR1 will be shooting for Chiron HP.

Katech just got 806 hp naturally aspirated. Porsche gets 520 out of a 4.0 6 cylinder. GM got 505 hp out of a small block 13 years ago, I think they can get to 600. Meeting emissions is tough though, at least that’s the excuse.
