The last time I bought a new car was when I was in High School. I bought a 1970 Challenger when they first came out. It was something new and different and I really liked how the Challenger was "different" than the others. Now 50 years later I'm buying my SECOND new car - a black on yellow 2020 C8 Corvette (and saying it's "different" is an understatement). I'm ordering it in the LT2 trim and with Z51 performance package. The other options I'm getting are the glass top, black painted mirrors and magnetic ride... They are now saying that the strike has set delivery date back to maybe March. I do have a question for the dealer about that $1000 "delivery charge" though. It seems to show up in the price calculation even when you opt for factory pickup. I would pay the $1k for factory pickup if the $1k delivery charge goes away. Don't know how they can charge for "delivery" if you pick it up at the factory...
The Delivery Charge does not go away even if you choose the Museum Delivery for the added Fee.
There is no "Factory" Pickup. The Cars are transported from the Factory to the Museum on Trucks, same as when they are trucked to your Local Dealer.
BTW - Congratulations on your second new car purchase. Bought my first Corvette used back in the 90's and bought my 2014 Stingray off the Dealer Showroom floor brand spanking new. When I get my C8, I guess I'll have to change my Moniker to Third Vette.

There is no option to pick up a new Corvette at the factory. You can opt to take delivery at the Corvette muesuem, which is just down the block. You will unfortunately have to pay your destination charge no matter where the car is delivered to. If it goes on the truck, you pay the same amount, regardless of if it's going down the steeet or across the country.

THAT explains it. Yes I forgot that "museum" delivery was the correct term but having been there before and the factory is basically right across the street I did not think they needed $1k to get it to the museum. I guess I won't get that option then. I would be a cool experience but then we have to take a day to go and get it (which would be a blast, don't get me wrong - it's a time issue for us).

The $1,000 Delivery Charge is an average based on the shortest delivery distance (probably the Museum) and the farthest delivery distance (I’m guessing Washington State). It’s to avoid having different delivery charges for every dealer in the country.
I've been updatated on the build schedule. My order goes in this month and I should get it next month!! That's about a month earlier than I expected it. Can't wait!

Get it next month, as in FEB? No, the first day of production is FEB 3. And then there’s a Quality Hold for about 30 days, and then shipping is about two weeks. Even if your order was produced the week of FEB 3 (which I doubt as the OCT and DEC orders are ahead of yours), delivery by mid-March would be more likely.
yeah, what he said... nobody is getting theirs in Feb. You might be on the schedule to start the build in Feb.. but not getting it delivered. I don't even think anyone will get a delivery in March.

The Quality Hold is going to be from 60-120 days so start thinking April - May for first batches to show up at the dealership. Hopefully early April....
Congrats and I hope you enjoy your 2nd new car...it's quite the GT car. As to the yellow, just curious have you seen the AY in person? It was on my list before I started seeing pics and videos but it has an awful greenish tint to me...regardless, have fun with your Sting Ray.
I only know what the dealer told me. Since I'm number one on his list my build request should be going in this month and he suggested the delivery would be a month later but then I believe this was before they stated there would be a "quality control hold" so yeah, it's probably going to be a bit later than March...

I'll probably put a full wrap on it anyway. If I don't like the color I'll wrap it with Yellow/Black...
