The fact they have recognized it and discussed how they addressed it means it won't be a surprise to them.
not the point. In the C&D article (or MY idr) the journalist was with an engineer and when the C8 wss going in and out of DOD the engineer verbally brought it to the attention of the journalist describing the feeling of vibration.... that's an issue.
Will they have it sorted by release? Hope so. But you never know.
It took GM almost 4yrs... not just the Corvette team - The camaro team - The Cadillac team and the entire full size pickup team PLUS the tahoe Yukon team to figure it out and in the end? it was a particular trans fluid issue retaining moisture unevenly wearing the torque converter clutch...... to.make it tougher? It only affected some of those 8speeds..
What's that old saying? Fool me once shame on you... fool me twice shame on me. Probably nothing.
I've e-mailed Range Technologies asking them when their AFM disabler will be available for the C8. When it's released, I will get one just so I can drive the car in any damn mode I want and not have to worry about it ever again.

This will be at the top of my mod list if I can't drive around the DOD.
As far as the clutch, GM has said the system is designed to slip the clutch slightly when going from V8 to V4, or vice versa, to smooth the change and prevent the shudder that sometimes happens in the M7 C7.
Have never felt a shudder in the M7 when running in Eco Mode. Switch over is seamless other than exhaust sound if exhaust is set in one of the louder modes such as Track. Seriously doubt they would need to slip the clutch on the DCT.
Too much worry about something that has a high probability of not happening.

I have a Range in my C7. I put it in before I left the dealer. I am figuring that Range should have one out soon. I hope they have by the tine I get my car, which should be late May or more likely June.

That's about the time my C8 is due to be done. Hoping the same, brother!
We currently are looking into the development of products that will disable the DFM/AFM for the newer vehicle applications. However, At this current point in time we do not have an eta for when they will be available. Thanks.
This came up early on. The answer was that the clutches will be slipped ever so slightly to dampen vibration when in V4..

Slipped slightly only during the transition between 8 and 4 or 4 and 8. Not slipped when IN V4.

With the high level encryption in the new Global B electronic architecture, Range may have a much harder time getting this to work.

Hmm, simple solution similar to why my 2014 Z51 and 2017 Grand Sport were never in V4 mode with my M7- it was never in ECO mode- I plan on operating my C8 in Manual Mode!
My main reason is I mostly drive in our rural area with many turns passing stretches' of farm fields, no homes etc, I was seldom driving in higher than 5th gear! Only used 7th gear on the Interstate which I seldom use. Most of my driving is 20 miles to town on back roads that requires a lot of turns and I seldom even found a need for 6th. In the C8, 6th is about the same gear ratio as 5th in the M7. That is probably what I'll use, pulling the downshift paddle twice for turns to match my usual M7 directly to 3rd- we'll see.
The few times I do take the Interstste I'll put it in Drive and let the DCT do it's thing, V4 mode and all!
