That looks like the dash on the pre-production car I sat in at the local event. I would request a warranty replacement after delivery from your dealership.
I'm sure I would toil over this for a long while. Don't know if I'd want to have the car dismantled by a dealer. Chances are slim to none that anyone but a dealer would repair that.
I think in the end there is a chance I may learn to live with it. It's not horrible. After all, it did pass inspections by many techs and supervisors. It can't be that bad - can it?
It’s actually not the stitching that is crooked. This is caused by the leather getting hot and cold and stretching and contracting. One reason to not get the 3lt.
Does not speak well for GM Quality Control. That should have never left the plant. If these are acceptable GM standards throughout the build process, going to be a lot of unhappy owners.
Reminds me of wood trim issues I saw with an F Pace I was about to take delivery on. It was warped on one panel and I chose to not get it. Waited 2 months and all was good...with the wood. I would never take delivery with this kind of issue...one I would see every time I drove the car. It would ruin my entire experience. That's just me.
Yeah that needs to be fixed. Even if there is some expansion and contraction due to material and climate, it's way too far outside of acceptable deviations. They also need to fix the alignment of the door panel to the dash.

Reason: typo
The door panel doesn't match up with the dash either.
Almost every C7 had a little mismatch there too... I wouldn't sweat that.

Sure looks like the bottom stitching is fine, but the top row of leather got stretched a little too far. The silver threads run closer to the center dash seam.
This is why I'd rather have black stitching... it's a GM product. Doing contrast stitch just means it has to be perfect.
FYI I learned today that the doors have to be taken off the car to remove the dash... you could be opening up a huge can of worms with potential damage, creaks/squeaks and door alignment and window alignment.
op theyll fix it but it was nice of you to post it for people who haven't picked theirs up yet. Something to watch for.
The C7 leather dash took almost 3 yrs before they figured it out.
The supplier started measuring the adhesive and stapling ends to keep it from pulling in thermal changeschanges.first year C8 will teach them what changes need to be made at the vendor (as well as some install in the line).
It's a Guinea pig situation up until the last year of the gen. But you have one and 99.9% of people don't. Enjoy.
