Hi All, for those looking to use tape, 3M makes a high temperature tape that is higher rated than any other they make. Check out 3M VHB #4611. Rate do to 232 degrees C.
I will be using if my car ever gets built? At 3000 for months.
Let's see, $20 for the option to change lighting colors to whatever you want or $995 for GM to provide you with 2 white LED lights. Anyone who rags on the OP, but thinks it's perfectly fine to pay for the Engine Appearance Package needs their head examined.
I think you're conveniently leaving out the fact that the majority of that $995 GM option is wrapped up in the carbon fiber covers that go on each side of the engine.
After reading your post and seeing your pics I purchased the light n Amazon thinking that if I didn’t use it in my car I could use it in other places. Believing that the glass panel in the C8 between the engine bay and interior is thick I decided to test the lights remote. I placed the light on a table inside my house near a front window with double pane glass and an outer glass storm window. I could not get the light to turn on using the remote outside the window, even moving the light into different positions. I then tested the light through a single pane glass door and the remote did turn the light on. I think if I were to mount the light in my engine bay it would only work for appearances at night while the vehicle is parked. The cost of the light is minimal and has several light changing features that could be used in many other places.

The LED Lights I bought (see above post) uses a RF (Radio Frequency) vs IR (Infrared) Remote. That makes a huge difference in the range and penetration to operate the lights. Just got mine so need to install. But here is a test operating lights just laying on the engine cover from inside my C8 sitting in the driver’s seat. And the remote does NOT have to be pointed at the LED light. Also tested in my living room and worked fine at 22 feet. Loftek advertised as over 160 ft in air.
No Jerry, I used these round LED lights. I reference the source in an earlier post. These work great but I may not leave them installed except on occasion. The hole plugs allow that. Not sure how heat effects the batteries long term. I bought the four pack because of free Amazon shipping. The other two are going to my son for use in his swimming pool.

I promise you that it turns on from inside the car. If you don't believe me I'll shoot a video to show you.
Has anyone found a way to use the official parts from GM? I just want normal looking lights that are wired into the existing harness that appears to be in the engine lid. There are even two cutouts for the OEM lights to snap into.
I'm not looking for the carbon bits, just the OEM real lights.
