Hi,

Hope these are close to depth of the other 4 lug nuts? Recall buying a different brand In the past, that did not stick out too far and look silly. Anyone have these to share finished look?

thanks!

I agree, they went from 12mm in the C7 to 14mm in the C8. I had to buy 22mm socket too.

Hi,

Anyone know the specs of the wheel locks?

14mm x (length) x conical (degrees) 60?

Thanks

Default Hmm?

Don't get the benefit of wheel locks? So I won't get them. And won't miss the benefit. If there is one?

I bought this one on Amazon.

Since the lug nuts require 140 ft-lbs fel the plastic inner scoket I have used for 12 years would not work- if I could find one for 22 mm.
Bought this one that as with all plastic outer covers (which I never found needed or I would have rapped mine with electrical tape) has steel in contact with the lug nut. It may be OK. Not as good so we'll see how the lug nuts fair!

Need more than thread size and cone angle. Have to be sure they have the internal depth NOT to bottom. Worse case is they just bottom so when you torque to the required 140 ft-lbs all you did was bottom on the stud!! On my C6 almost got into that trouble! Called McGard as found these nice looking McGard lugs and locks but tech told me those were for "tunner" foreign cars with shorter studs. Had to be sure they didn't bottom. Gave me the part number and I bought at a discount from Jegs,

Just looked up C8 Corvette on Amazon. They show the wrong ones for a fit! They were $18.95. Found these 14 mm ones I believe are correct for $22.16. BUT they say won't fit! I'm sure that is wrong BUT I would call McGard tomorrow when they are open and verify.

GM uses McGard. I always buy from a discount house. In this case $90 is 4 times the discount price! When my C8 comes I will buy McGard. I have used another brand and the lock failed! For all those who say anyone can get them off, that took a great deal of effort! With McGard I have never had a failure BUT still buy an extra lock when I get the set. It comes with a card to send to them. You can also register. I keep one in the car and one in my tool box.

I don't do wheel locks on anything. I'd rather they just take the tires and wheels and not destroy half the vehicle trying to do so.

I do know a guy who lost the super secret lug nut key to his wheel locks. He couldn't even steal them.

Default JerryU is the Winner!

Hi All,

I spoke to McGard today and they confirmed they do make the wheel locks for GM, no specific cars mentioned. JerryU was correct in prior post above, KUDOS! Jeff at McGard confirmed that their product #24215 will work on new C8. Can buy on Amazon for under $23.00 as JerryU shared or buy the GM OEM Part # 84488348 for $90.00 (Very likely the same part)

Good Luck all, now I just need my car and 4 wheels! LOL
